Is your family income is low? If so you may be eligible for HEOP.(Higher Education Opportunity Program, which is for students with low income but with academic potential)

If you are not eligible for HEOP because your income may be too high then it will be tough getting in.

my income is high :S, im taking the sats on june 6 im planning to do some subject tests on october i think but havent decided which ones yes are they important? which ones should i do?

i just got elected student council treasurer will that help me enter? plus i forgot one of my extracurricular being a member of “Dream Awake” an organization that helps poor kids, I myself have gone many weekends and make them have fun, and raise money for them

ECs are really great, and they help show the AO who you are, but when it comes down to it your GPA is what stands out the most. A 3.25 is definitely too low for a decent shot at NYU or Columbia. However, I have heard of some people getting accepted with around a 3.3. Some things you could do to improve your chances:
-Do really well on the SAT
-Write outstanding essays
-If your intended major is economics consider applying CAS instead of Stern, but if its other fields of business then Stern is your only option
-Try to get your first semester senior grades as high as possible

As for the SAT IIs it doesn’t matter which ones you take although AOs usually don’t like to see you take Math I and II (although I did). Math would be a good one to take though if you are planning on business.

hey I think you should go for it and all but it’s really going to come down to your scores. If you pull of above a 2200 then your GPA will mean zilch, anything lower and it’ll cause you some problems (especially for Columbia).
