It's my senior year and it has always been my dream to go to Stanford but my test scores and GPA are definitely not the greatest. First of all, I took the SAT for the second time today and based on how well i think i did i maybe got into the mid 1700's and low 1800 at best. Secondly, my high school GPA is a 3.0 which is very low. I attend a school know for its academic rigor. My curriculum is very challenging because i am taking 3 AP classes (US history, Literature, Chemistry) plus 3 other classes. In my junior year i took 4 AP classes and one honors class(Bio,Lang, World History, and micro/macro econ, honors chemistry). in my sophomore year i only took two AP's and two honors courses(psychology, US gov't, honors Lit and lang). Also, i have passed all of my AP tests and only scoring a 4 in Gov't and World History and the rest 3s. i usually have upwards of 3 hours of homework a night so you might say it is a very daunting.

I am currently a member of the Robotics club at my school and i go to the gym or at least run 6 out of the 7 day week(if that is important). i have very few volunteering hours and is very difficult to find time due to my already stacked schedule.

my question is:
Do i have even have a remote chance of being admitted and is it worth my time to even apply?

there is no doubt that you don’t have a real shot. but Still Nothing is not Impossible!
If Stanford is really your dream school, apply! the only situation that your chance is 0% is when you don’t apply! So apply. even if you don’t get in, there is always transfer and grad school…
Still, try to find real “reach, match and back up” for you…

I hate to be the one to say it, but I don’t want you to get your hopes up.

You won’t get in. In the entire history of my high school, no one has ever gotten in Stanford with an SAT even below 2000, and I have never heard of a scenario where an applicant got in with an 1800 SAT + 3.0 GPA. There just isn’t any chance here, it’s out of reach. You might think that the 3.0 is because of a too rigorous schedule, but Stanford won’t see it that way. I’m absolutely certain they get applicants who apply with the same number AP courses with 4s and 5s in all of them.

In all honesty, I feel that to them, this is a sign that says if you can’t cope with high school work, then there’s no chance you’ll be able to cope with the rigorous course work at Stanford - which may very well be true as the difficulty of the stuff they do there is NOT cut out for everyone, even the smartest kids.

So in the end, you can apply if you want, but you really need to know that the chance you’re getting in is close to 0. I’m really not trying to be rude, I just sincerely want you to understand the situation.

What is your intended major? There are several decent universities in the US, and I hope you don’t get too fixated on attending Stanford.

You need to get some good, solid advice from a competent guidance counselor. The fact that you are even asking this question is problematic, but in short, no you are not a viable candidate for Stanford or pretty much any school with fairly competitive admissions.

To put this in perspective, you should be looking at schools that accept 70-80% of their applicants. Stanford accepts approx. 5%.

I honestly don’t think that getting accepted to Stanford is feasible. That’s fine, I’m in a similar boat to you, albeit with a much higher test score, and what I’ve find helps is trying to find schools that fit you that have lower standards. Even perfect candidates get rejected from Stanford, so unless there is some GIANT hook that you didn’t mention, I’d say the chances are close to naught. Apply anyway, however, because sometimes schools take chances.
