I just started junior year with a 3.8 GPA weighted, and I want to know if it is possible for me to end the year with a 4.3. I was dying to go to Georgetown but now it looks like i am screwed. I take all accelerated classes and currently AP English and Chemistry. I usually get A's but softmore year I did absolutely horrible in English, just awful. For our school the highest possible grade you can get seems like a 4.6 weighted (A+). But I will be honest, I don't think thats happening. I learned the hard way that trying gets you no where, no matter how hard you try. Hell my entire class cheated on our a make or break grade for the first marking period of our accelerated English class. I didn't cheat, i took the C. And now im starting to regret it. Bottom line I am tired, frustrated and want a a 4.3, or at the bare minimum a 4.1, what are my chances? Any advice will be appreciated thank you.

You can do the math to see what GPA you will get under various scenarios (of grades earned). It should not be a difficult math problem.

Also, others cannot do it for you because your high schools grade weighting system is not necessarily one that others know about.

how do i calculate it based on different scenarios, I do not fully understand how to combine the credits and grades together, is their a calculator i can use?

Review your notes from your math courses about calculating averages. Use the table that maps your high school’s grades to the grade points (e.g. A in regular course = 4, B in regular course = 3, A in honors course = something higher than 4, etc.) to get the set of numbers to average. If there are courses with differing amounts of credit, review your notes from your math courses about weighted (by amount of credit) averages.

It’s important to look at your unweighted GPA.
