I'm applying to the ivy leagues, primarily Penn and Harvard.

For the Counselor Recommendation form, can I get my Principal to fill that out for me? Because the guidance counselors don't really know me that well, whereas the principal does.

yeah, that’s not a problem. my vice principal is filling that out for me.

@redhuntinghat You may be correct. But this rule doesn’t apply to me because I don’t have official counselor.

Clearly, nobody in this thread has tried looking at the directions on the form: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/DownloadForms/2013/2013SchoolReport_download.pdf.

They say, “…give this form to your secondary school counselor or another school official who knows you better.”

Thanks for the replies. @Sikorsky I know what the form says - it’s just that on the colleges’ websites they said “counselor to fill it out”, so I wasn’t sure about the discrepancy.
Anyways, I called a couple of colleges, and they said that the principal can fill out half of it and guidance can fill out the other half.

You really thought that colleges might accept the Common Application, but not the instructions that are printed on it? Wouldn’t that be absolutely perverse on their part?

@Sikorsky. You’re right, my bad. Sorry about that.
