Can I get a recommendation letter and not end up using it?

I am planning to get a recommendation letter from a teacher that taught me last semester, and I feel like I should do it soon as it has already been many months since she taught me.

The thing is, I may end up using a different professor for the letter in the end, or I may decided not to transfer at all in the end. Would that be a problem?

Also a few more questions please!:
1) I'm using the common app, how should she submit her recommendation letter?
2) Will the professor usually include my reason for transferring in her recommendation letter?
3) Do I have to know now which colleges the recommendation letter is for?

bump 10char.

bump. pls, school is nearly over, i need help now! :D

Lots of people line up recommenders that they don’t end up using. This happens all the time. In fact, my own Happykid spent days tracking down recommenders only to find out that one of her colleges doesn’t require any letters at all, and the other only requires one. She’s “saving” the other folks for possible scholarship applications.
