Can I get a second bachelors degree?

Hello there.

How many times can I get a bachelors degree before going to a graduate school? For example, get twice. Is that possible for an international student?

Thanks!

A second bachelors degree is full pay.
Having multiple degrees doesn’t appear to be cost effective.

Some colleges have rules about who and how you can get a second bachelor’s degree. Example:

You have to look at the policy of each college.

An employer or graduate school admissions office would wonder why you repeated years of study when it wasn’t required.

If you later applied to a job with me, I’d question what about you made you scared to go out into the real world – and how it would affect you as an employee with my organization.

I know several people who earned second bachelors degrees. Usually this happens when someone drastically changes their field of study. Often many of credits from the first degree apply toward the second one, so if there aren’t a lot of courses that must be taken in a particular sequence it can be possible to finish that second degree in about two years.

If you are changing fields of study before applying to grad school, a full second bachelors degree might not be necessary - it wasn’t for me. Back in the last century, I took a year of undergrad classes as a “senior transfer” and a semester of grad classes as a “non-degree grad student” at a home-state public U before applying to grad school.

What is your reason for wanting to do so?

Why not take a few prep classes and then go to grad school.?

You can get as many as you want and are willing to pay for. The second degree wont require as many credits because you have already met your core requirements.

As the previous posters are alluding to, though, you don’t want to approach your career this way. Decide what your career goal is then work backwards to get the credentials you need for that career. Don’t start adding initials after your name unless you really need them.

There was a time when students stayed in school to “enrich their horizons” but unless your parents are wealthy those days are gone.
