Or better yet, grade change through extenuating circumstances. Deans love this. ;)

Of course, this will only work if you really do have extenuating circumstances, documentation, and good enough communication skills to get this written down and or explained in person.

i have 19ws but i made up most of them for letter grades, .. i have like 5 or so not made up ws ,

I am foreign , i wrote about coming to america and learnining english in my essay but i was very little so i didnt focus on that

if you focus on that and really stres how much of a struggle it was and milk the whole thing then you could really write something that would make them accept you.

Academic renewal: Check with your school since the policy differs for each school. Usually, you get one chance to retake the failed course and the new grade gets recorded and calculated into your gpa while the old grade gets erased.

Actually academic renewal is when they erase an entire semester from your gpa. You have to meet certain conditions though and it still shows on your transcript.

Academic renewal is when grades of D or F are taken out of GPA calculation. It varies, but usually, a year must have passed since the bad grades were earned, and you must have at least 12 units of good work (>2.0) since. The grades still appear on your transcript; they are just not calculated into the GPA.

Oh i c... Yeah, that makes sense...
but wait.. another person says he/she got 19 Ws? That again does not make sense? I mean do you get W for many semester or what? How long have you stayed in CCC if you have 19 W? And you got in some schools? That does not make sense!!!!!! 19 Ws omg!

I am a she, i have 19w's
i been in CC for 5 years. but sometimes i ended up droppping full semesters b/c i had to work.

It makes sence.

i got into UCLA.
i explained it all in my personal statment.
My family ahs no money, my mom has cancer and no SSI, my brother is on SSI so the only person that works is me.... so thats why i have so many W's but my gpa is 3.48 anyways, SO i would rather have 19 w's than like 2 Ds

oh... hey malishka, wow... that is very impressive of you! Good work there! Now it makes sense! You are living proof that determination is essential in succeeding our dream.

Just a small question though, is the 2 Ds calculated in your GPA?

i dont have any Ds ... you mean theoretically speaking?
IF you get a D it is part of your gpa just like any other grade, but if you make up the D for C or better than the D is not part of your gpa and the new grade is but its still on your transcript.

I didn't read it carefully, you said: taking 19Ws rather than 2D ... I thought it was "19Ws AND 2Ds" ahhahahaha

Hey malishka31, where else have you got accepted, you deserve a space in many schools actually; after reading your post, I can see that you stand out of the crowd and of course that is a plus for many UCs...Also, you will be a new Bruin?

Hey, thanks Kevin101.. i actually got in everywhere but UCB. Which i was sad about but UCB was my 3rd choice... so it was all good in the end.

I dont know, sometimes i like think about the past few years, and i had no idea i did that much until i was writing my essays and i was like "dude my life kind of sucks" lol . it was sad, but i guess worth it in the end.
