I meet all the requirements, except my gpa is 2.4, I know that's low but it's because I didn't drop two classes and ended up getting F's in them, but they were easy and I'm going to retake them. Does not meeting that requirement mean an automatic no?

edit: I always forget question marks.

You won’t be able to TAG because you would have needed to replace those grades by the end of Summer session to get your GPA up to a 3.0 by the September filing period. You can still apply through the regular admissions process. I would retake those classes this Fall so UCSC will see your improved GPA before they make admissions decisions.

Unfortunately you are not eligible to TAG. If you go to the TAG matrix & guidelines you will see specific requirements needed to TAG and one of those requirements is a 3.0GPA (I believe). You should retake those classes and get your GPA up if you want to be eligible for a TAG to UCSC.You can, however, apply to UCSC normally, which is what you should do if you do not want to retake those classes although I do not recommend it.

The only way you can TAG is if you’re retaking those classes right now in the summer, and you replace those F’s with A’s and B’s, and your GPA goes above 3.0 by the time September rolls around. Since you didn’t say anything about retaking them right now, I’ll assume you won’t have a GPA above 3.0 by September, which means you won’t be able to TAG.

Like the guy said, make sure you retake those classes this Fall so your GPA will look good for when they evaluate you.

Oops my mistake! Lakerace is correct!

GPA and limitations
“You must earn a cumulative 3.5 minimum UC GPA earned by the end of Fall term 2011 and maintained through the end of Spring term 2012.”

That is from mine which is for UCSD. For UCSC I believe it is just a 3.0 :)

Crap! I am totally failing today! Actually, for UCSC the 3.0 has to be at the time of the application :(

Here’s all the info for UCSC TAG

Don’t worry, LAladyy, I was confused for a second, too.

UCSD and UCSB are the only UC’s (I think), to require a 3.0+ GPA after the Fall term. UCSC requires it at the time of submission.

OP, can you get “academic renewal” for the failed courses? If removing the failed grades bumps you over the 3.0, you should become eligible for TAG.

the guy has a 2.4 for crying out loud. don’t get him into a pipe dream

wow. this is crazy. wheres that kme quote from earlier.?
