Im a senior this year i have taken AP Bio last year and I am taking AP Chem and AP Calculus BC this year. My freshman and sophomore year ruined my average but it also shows that i have consistently received higher grades as the years went on My grades are:
90 average
SAT: 1550.
CR:420
Math:730
Writing:400
I know my SAT's aren't that good
ACT:22 Only did well in math and science section
I also have many sports, played the saxophone in parades and concerts, I am an assistant manager at my work and i went to the Science And Research Awareness Series at Stony brook summer of 2011
I want to go into engineering field because I like math and science and I know my grades don't show my full potential. I have never been a good test taker nor have I done well in english. My ethnicity is Hispanic by the way.
I am also applying to SUNY Albany and probably more SUNY schools

Submit a letter explaining why some of your grades and scores don’t give an accurate picture of who you are as a student. Find a mentor to help you get the hang of the types of questions you did not do well on in the ACT and then retake it.

Get a really solid letter of recommendation. If you’re not sure which teacher would write a strong one, here are a couple of ideas. One way to find out if Ms Jones would write a stellar recommendation would be to say, “I’m trying to figure out which teacher to approach for my letter of recommendation. It needs to be someone who knows my work well, and can give me a strong recommendation. Who do you think I should approach?” And Ms Jones might say, “What about me? I’d be happy to write you a recommendation.” Or you could say, “Ms Jones, could you write me a letter of recommendation that I could take with me as I’m going around in my job search?” And that would give you a chance to preview what Ms Jones would say about you.

It may be that neither of these tricks is necessary. You may just know in your gut which teacher will say the most wonderful things about you.

If the above strategy doesn’t work out for you, you can start out at a community college and get some great grades there! Then you’ll have some nice stuff to show the four year schools!

My Essay is about 7 or 8/10 at least. My recommendations are pretty good I think. I just retook the SAT im expecting at least 1700 on it and a 1200 Cr + Math at least
