So i'm looking at UoP and have already applied but I feel as if my chances are not as high, due to recently visiting the school, which by the way the campus is beautiful but the dorm rooms are not what I expected, I am in AP classes , I have a 4.0, I participate in a few clubs, I have gotten straight As all my high school years and I am in the top ten of my senior class but my ACT score was 25 and SAT was 1570( it was my first time taking it and will be taking it another time) and I have no idea how admissions works but i feel like test scores have a big part i am also applying to sjsu, sfsu, uc davis, uc riverside, uc irvine and a few more that i am not yet sure about.

.

Retake your SAT or take the ACT. Your grades don’t match your scores. For a 4.0 your SAT should be higher.

@aunt bea i kno i didnt study because i was my first time taking it and i wanted to test it out but i have taken it again and am waiting for my scores and will take it again in december i would take the ACT again but i would have to pay over $70 dollars due to late registration

I am pretty sure you’ll get in. I agree - the campus is really beautiful. Honestly, the nicest I’ve ever seen. Your comment about $70 for a test suggests UoP may not be right for you. It is absurdly expensive. Sure, they dole out financial aid like candy but, you need to re-qualify every year. If they yank your aid half way through sophomore year - what will you do?

You’ve got a great shot at Riverside, and the CSUs, Irvine is 50/50, Davis, unlikely. (due to your SAT).

Good luck.

I also agree that you have a good shot at getting in. Yes, UoP is expensive, but depending on if you can get your SAT/ACT up, you could qualify for a merit scholarship that could help off-set the cost. Your parents’ income will ultimately determine what you are eligible for.

For UOP, you have a good chance for acceptance if you can get a good score on the SAT/ACT. My older son was accepted with a 4.3 weighted GPA and ACT of 26, received $15,000 for merit scholarship but ended up at UC Davis since it was still cheaper.
UCR/SFSU/SJSU are Matches
UCI: High Match (although they are more forgiving on low scores if you have a high GPA)
UCD: Low Reach/High Match (much more competitive than 2 years ago and dependent upon major)

Good Luck.

Update for anyone seeing this. I Got Accepted!!

Congrats @123unquiely123 !
