-2070 SAT
-3.81 GPA UW to date; 2 APs junior yr, but 4 APs current senior year at very strong HS
-Major charity and TA hours
-FOCUSED: AP Psychology last year + intern at Stanford (Psychiatry Lab researching eating disorders) + Volunteering with Public Health department presenting proper nutrition to elementary school kids + Two week immersion in desolate Native American reservation = Profound desire to do social science research and curb obesity problem especially in poor urban and rural areas
-Thoughtful letter from Stanford Prof "research star...held her own alondside graduate school students...we want her back"
-Top rowing programs won't recruit this ultra lightwieght, but likely walk-on spots at Georgetown, Duke, etc.

Does this Californian catch:

Duke
UNC
Georgetown
UVA
Villanova
Bucknell
Lehigh

Why arent you applying to Stanford?

To low of SAT for UVS, UNCCH since you are OOS. They only take no more than 25% from OOS. IS kids typically have at least a 2200+ SAT, and more APs to be deemed competitive. Realize that UNCCH and UVA are basically IVY for public universities, and OOS with that SAT score would not cut it for IS. When it comes down to acceptances their hands are tied by state statutes, you could be more competitive if it was private, but it isn’t.

Georgetown, Nova, Bucknell and Lehigh look like matches.

Duke maybe, but if you really want them make a personal phone call to the crew coach, because it doesn’t hurt if he uses his power to bring you in for the team. I understand they don’t recruit, but getting support from inside if you are strong in crew and can prove it can be the push you over the line to get in.

I live next door. And, I part of growing up is shaking it up…I’m headed east.

I figured that when I saw the list, you only have east coast schools, and you are obviously from the west coast.

i would say that nova, lehigh and bucknell you have a very decent shot at with your scores. Georgetown though maybe tough, you’re a very good candidate but usually you need a SAT score of above 2200 if you have a GPA lower than a 3.9, take it from someone who has gone through this. Georgetown’s median SAT scores look lower due to their high athletic requirement/ legacy so if you’re not either one of those, you have to have a higher score.

o btw i forgot to ask what is the breakdown of your SAT scores because G-Town only looks at CR and Math so if your 1600 score is high i would give you a better chance
