Can I get in as a transfer?

Or am I just wasting my time?

I did so poorly in high school.

I want to go to CAS
I had like a 2.5 GPA
970 SAT.
I graduated in 2004.
I'm African-American
3.8-9 GPA at a Community College
75 Credits at a Community College.
A lot of extracurricular activities.

Also, does NYU give scholarships to transfers? My parents can pay for the tuition but scholarships are always good!

I’m not sure how NYU would weigh the SAT for transfers, but if they do take it into consideration, you just MIGHT want to take it over again. But other than that, your GPA is really good, and I think you have a shot based on that.

I’m assuming you’re two years into college. Just know that it’s even harder to get in for transfers, but, I still think you have a shot, just as long as SATs are not a part of the application (or, if they are, you’ve taken them again and scored MUCH higher).

Generally, most of the scholarships/financial aid goes to freshmen. If you’re saying your parents can actually afford the $50,000+, NYU is definitely going to see that on your FAFSA (but you’re probably not going to apply for need-based aid anyway). It’s hard for people who need the money to get it…honestly, I think you’d be lucky to get $2000 merit-based from NYU, strictly because most of the money goes to freshmen, and especially since you can afford it. But you might get lucky in that regard, who knows? It really can go either way sometimes…

Best of luck!
