Im currently a high school junior and I really want to go to UMass Amherst. I just finished my first semester. I got 2 A's 2 B's, and a B in an AP level class. My GPA is about 3.9 weighted, 3.45 unweighted. I have a ton of community service hours, member of DECA, member of National Honor Society, volunteer at youth basketball camps over the summer, and play sports for fun. I live in NC and go to a pretty high-end school. I took the SAT once and got a 1470. Not good at all for me, but it was my first time taking it so I can surely improve. What are my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill???
Thanks!

I would focus on getting your GPA and SAT up. Your extracurriculars sound good though. If you are in state, you may be able to get in with a better SAT and GPA. If you are out of state it will probably be rough.

Get your SAT and GPA up. Chapel Hill’s average SAT is about 1800-1900. Your extracurriculars sound pretty good. Maybe you should try out for the school team. Also, run for leadership positions within clubs. UNC values these positions. Strive for high As in every class.

It might take a little work, but I wish you good luck!

Usually people who score under 1500 their junior in high school won’t break 1800. Out of state students, on average, need to have a 75 point higher SAT (3 part). That means you need about a ~1900 to have a decent shot if your OOS. Your GPA is also way lower than what they want, since 95% of all UNC students have a 3.75+ unweighted GPA. Don’t get your hopes up
