I think I will have great recs and essays.

I would like to know my chances of acceptance to Stanford (ED), NYU (EA), UCLA (EA), UC Berkeley, Brown, University of San Francisco, Oxford, Cornell, UVA, Syracuse, Columbia University, Northwestern, Boston University, USC, and UCSD

This is for next year (2006) of course.

any and all input would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Hmmm...if anything, you are QUITE special! your only problem seems to be in believing that you are! your stats are pretty amazing, and with the help of good recs and essays you can go anywhere you put your mind to!

I agree and by the way, NYU is ED, not EA. I know it's a small detail but it's fairly important. Good luck, keep up the good work and you should be fine.

Your chances for Stanford ED are exactly 0...because Stanford does not have an ED program.

ED....meaning I am applying Early Decision. Can I not do this? And I can only apply ED to NYU? Sorry, I'm still kind of new to these things.

Here's the deal: Stanford is EA, but a special early action called single choice, meaning that it's the only place you can apply to early. Similarly, NYU is ED, meaning a binding contract were you to get in. Also, UCs don't have early applications.

lol...I like the title "i'm nothing special"

there are many juniors who'd die for your stats

you will get accepted by at least a few of your choices

good luck

Thanks for all of your comments. I'm feeling a bit more confident.

I'm seriously considering Stanford and NYU right now. If I apply to Stanford single choice, is that decision binding? So, in effect, when deciding where to apply early, I have to chose between the two, correct?

if you got into stanford early, it would not be binding. you'd still be ablet to apply to NYU. stanford is far more difficult to get into so i would use your early ticket there. if you were fortunate enough to get in you could apply to NYU RD and make your decision in april, after a few campus visits etc.

out of interest how did you narrow it down to stanford and nyu...the schools could not be more dissimilar

no, you will get rejected by every school and lead a horrible life washing the toilets at your high school. Just kidding. you'll get in to a few

If you really think your stats are "nothing special," then you need to talk to a therapist.

also i forgot to say: there is one place you won't get into for sure...oxford. sorry but there's no chacne with a 3 on the ap world test. all they care about are aps.

Thanks for the clarification Tim. Haha I wasn't really considering Oxford anyway. My dad would kill me before he'd let me move that far and they don't really have a communications program.

But I did narrow my list down to those two. Stanford has been my dream school since I was 5 years old. But in the past year I actually did research instead of just blindly committing myself to that school, and realized it has a strong communications program. I've been raised in Southern California so going to Stanford would allow me to stay close (comparatively then if I went to New York) to my immediate famlly.

I've also research NYU and realized that it has a brilliant communications program, and is located in probably the best place for internships. I was born in New York, so I have a lot of family there as well.

I realize that Northwestern also has a great program, but I don't think I could be that far from any family.

Also, I can really see myself living in the Bay Area or New York City when I"m older. I love both locations.

I realize that they are entirely different, but they appeal to both sides of me.

looks good, and if I were you I'd be careful on the ACT. Projected score doesn't mean anything because pressure/time on testday is much different than at home. I also would get 34-35 on the ones I took at home but ended with a 29 on the real thing...ehh who knows - I don't know how accurate those past tests are now compared to the newer ones, plus the testing environment really does have an impact, or at least it did for me. Good luck
