Can I get in SJSU in Computer Science as a international student

I know that being an international student would mean I’m an out of state student and will be harder to get in. I’m thinking about applying for Computer Science Major or Software Engineering based on my Eligibilty Index.

I got a 4.0 GPA
A 1480 on the SAT (800 on Math, and 680 on the Reasoning test)

I calculated it to be 4680 for CS major and 4740 for engineering school. I know it qualified the 2017 impaction results but I’m still worried, can anyone tell me how these results may fluctuate and should I leave my major as Software Engineering? Thank you so much.

I think you are likely to be admitted. It’s usually the case that most majors do not change their EI drastically from year to year.

Also, apply to the major you are interested in. You’ll worry more about switching to x major, and that will add to your goals in college.

The EI thresholds for CS do fluctuate greatly from year to year. Based on the impaction results posted on SJSU’s website for the last 6 years.

2012: EI= 4000
2013: EI= 4100
2014: EI= 4550
2015: EI= 4300
2016: EI= 4550
2017: EI= 4500

I do not see it going down below 4500 in the near future but I also think it will not go up above 4600. You are in good shape.
