According to the Princeton review, State residency is 'not considered' for Penn State admission. Also, it says the student body is 24% out of state--that just represents how many are actually attending.
We were told by admissions counselors at psu that in-state or out-of-state residency is not a factor in the admissions process.

I only took the ACT's, no SAT's. The equivalent SAT score is about a 1300/1600.

I like to rely on the Common Data Set when looking at what it takes to get in. "The Common Data Set has been developed over a number of years as a collaborative effort among the College Board, U.S. News and World Report, publishers Wintergreen/Orchard House, and a large number of colleges and universities. Much of the information included in the Common Data Set is taken directly from IPEDS reports, which all institutions submit annually to the federal government."

For what PSU considers important, go to here to section C.7., "Relative importance of each of the following academic and nonacademic factors in your first-time, first- year, degree-seeking (freshman) admission decisions."
Penn State Common Data Set - Campus

State residency is 'not considered' in the application process. GPA and test scores are 'very important.'

Unfortunately, while they break it down by campus, they don't break it down by college.

I didn't wanna start a new thread just for this question so I'll just ask it here: I decided to fill out the optional EC's & personal statement sections but have VERY little on them (3 EC's and personal statement of about 45 words). Should I omit one of the sections/both sections or is something better than nothing?

^That should be fine. I don't know how much it would help....probably won't. But having 3 EC's can't hurt.

They claim admission is 2/3 GPA and 1/3 SAT so there isn't really place for EC's or a personal statement there. I believe they only look at those when you are a borderline case. It can't hurt to fill them out anyway. I only had a few EC's myself.

Do you think that the ap's and the honors not enough?
I am out state but in the new england states

i was filling out the app online, but somehow i didnt see anything boxes asking me to write down EC's. did i do something wrong and miss a step?

^There was a section to fill out EC's for last year. I'm not sure about this year. Maybe you can go through each page again to make sure? If there isn't space, don't sweat. It probably won't help if you're not applying to SHC anyway.
