I am currently a junior at a large, public high school in Georgia. I thought I might ask this here as many posters are well educated about college admissions.

3.6 unweighted GPA
1510 SAT (780 CR + 730 M)
IB Diploma Candidate, plus five honors classes and three AP classes during my freshman/sophomore year
Possible Majors- Public Policy, Arabic, International Relations
EC's:

Academic Bowl- Will have been involved all four years in my school's program, my team has done very well at a tournaments we have participated in. I was secretary my sophomore year, and vice president in my junior year. I also have around 100 hours for volunteering at area tournaments, and helping middle school kids in my community become better players at the game.

Yearbook- Will have been involved all four years as well. Our yearbooks in the past years I've been on staff have won awards. This year I was a section editor, and will be the editor of writing and sports next year.

Arabic & Global Affairs- I have studied two years of Modern Standard Arabic in programs and took a seminar on national security at Georgetown. I am also involved in the Atlanta youth's chapter for the non-profit PCRF (Palestinian Children's Relief Fund), where I recently was the co-project manager in an event that raised $1500 dollars for the organization.

I also started a club dealing with bringing attention to the humanitarian crises going on with the children in Uganda and the DRC (not Invisible Children, but very similar) in my sophomore year, but there was not enough student interest to keep the club going unfortunately. I'm still unsure as to whether or not I will be putting this on my application. Though it may show initiative in my interest in international affairs, it would be an understatement to say the club did not do well.

I am also a part of the Spanish NHS and Social Studies NHS at my school.

Essays: I have begun writing a few of them, and I think they will turn out well. I plan on devoting a lot of time to them this summer. For every school that requires a "why our college essay", I have what I believe to be are unique angles as to why I want to attend each of these colleges.

List of schools- I'm definitely not applying to all of these, but this is my final list in which I'll narrow down to 10-15 colleges.
