Can i get in to Stanford?

I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA. I am hoping to do really well on my SAT's next year. I take all AP courses such as calculus, chemistry, biology, physics, and english. I have extra-curriculars such as school basketball and baseball, volunteering at my city hospital, and having a part time job during the school year. I was elected Head Boy for my high school for senior year (next year) and was selected to go to the Global Young Leaders Conference in China this summer for 2 weeks. I go to a highly respected Catholic high school in Canada (near Toronto). Do i have a legit shot

It's a reach.
There a lots of people with 4.0s and solid course loads. Your EC's are kind of weak (a lot of people do GYLC and it's not merit based). You need some spankin' test scores and really great recs/essays.

I would say the only way for you to have a legitimate chance is to have some pretty crazy test scores.. just my opinion though

Hey I dont want to be an ******* but do you think you could make this all into one thread?
You have like 5 threads out there that are IDENTICAL except with a different college name:

Can i get in to Berkeley?

Yah no need to be an annoying **** and make 3 identical threads.

BTW Head boy???? *** ???' You go to Hogwarts or some ****? I didnt think anywhere still had head boys.

I am taking 10 points from Griffondor for making a retarded thread

yeah haha all on the same forum too!

not even in the chances forum, or in the schools forums

you get.... (i hate to say this because i hate it when super asians do, and im not asian, buttt) AN EPIC FAIL

I would be careful about the GYLC thing. Schools recently are taking very strong stances against expensive travel programs, and that is all that those youth conferences look like to me whenever I get one of those letters.

Additionally, your GPA is really pretty low for Stanford.

lol, wth.... was there any need to make a thread for each school?!

umm, I'd say your a pretty strong applicant...
I'd advise you to start taking the SAT and ACT NOW and study for it. That way you should have a better chance of doing well on it, don't wait until your senior year (like I did lol)
Also, if this is your first choice, apply ED
We had headboys in South Africa and England too :P

alright sorry for the threads. You guys are super nice though, thanks for the chirps you ******bags. i guess we have lots of comedians here. hey ListenKid, you listen here kid, you can suck my left nut because tons of schools have elected "head boys", its the same as a class president you idiot. Nice Harry potter reference, real creative

You will get rejected for having sub-par or average everything (in an international pool, no less) and I will laugh at your failure. ;)

I have to say, Baelor is the biggest fag on CC forum. He is so full of himself it is a disgrace to the Stanford community

Thanks civilengg. Nothing I say can top this though:

"you can suck my left nut"

In other words, my reply was solely in response to this absurd troll who has told everyone on his three boards to engage in fellatio with him.

Arrogant, sure. But it's not as if I'm talking about a legitimate applicant here...Get a grip.

BTW, I am not even part of the Stanford community, and thus cannot be a disgrace to it at all. But I suggest you find a more valid basis for your totally offensive and absurd statement than my flaming a troll. I await your response in this thread, by PM, by another board dedicated to flaming me, etc.

It is much like the lottery
This is truly the best answer.
There was a girl with a 3.4 gpa who got accepted while a plethora of 4.0's got rejected.
The college process is an enigma so just apply and hope for the best.

absurd troll? WOW. You should do stand up comedy Baelor, that is just hilarious. You're a joke buddy

Mucho love, saunders. :*

The GPA is a bit low... Rank is needed; if top 5% then GPA is put in perspective.

thank you. i'll check it out

Wait saunders92 were you calling me a troll!
Wow I'm suprised that you kids actually think top Institutions base their acceptance on gpas only especially one such as Stanford.
Stanford= diversity which you don't find only in 3.7+ gpas.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/615741-i-got-into-stanford-3-4-gpa-possible.html

The link about the 3.4 girl by the way.

Wait never mind I think you were talking to that baelor dude or whatever his name is.
sorry!

Of course, Haitian, but it's more complicated than just having a low GPA and getting in. Look at that girl and her passion for running. Not to mention the upward trend. My record is the same way.

But it's not as if someone who has a 3.0 is good to go unless they have extenuating circumstances. I fail to see how that's the case here. Rank is also relevant
