Can I get in?-uri

Hello guys, I am a junior at high school and want to get in uri really badly. I maintain a 78% unweighted average and an 84% weighted average. I never took the SAT, but my PSAT was around 1500. Im looking to get into uri for their computer program. I am currently in 5 clubs, 2 are in which computer programming clubs being ACSL- American computer science league, as well as computer club. I am currently working as a professional internship as a computer programmer for the past month, and have built my own website, elitebody4life.com. Do I have a good chance of getting in?

URI is getting very hard to get into. But apply for the computer program and you should be fine. If you apply for what you want to do, and have info like you have to back it all up your fine. If you apply yourself to some AP courses and take higher classes in math and take a language, if you write a really good essay in the application, if your in-state and your parents or sibling went, and you get above a 3.2 GPA, combine all of the above, your definitely in.

The lowest kids they have ever accepted (2005-2010) have:
1.83-GPA. Average is a 2.89 (For the school)
1200-SAT. Average is a 1591 (For the school)
18-SAT. Average is a 22 (For the school)

Thank you so much, because I heard that uri has a very good compute program and i wanted to take full advantage of that. I’m actually taking a 2 honors courses next year and 1 ap. I also play football and lacrosse so. You think I have a shot? And thanks a bunch for all of your help. Are you into computers as well?

yes you definitely have a shot, all you need are 2 letters of recommendation from a science or math teacher, and a history or english teacher, but you can really impress admissions and get a third one from a computer/science/graphics teacher or mentor. I submitted the regular two recommendations (1 english 1 Biology) and a third one from the head of my high school; because I was a great student with graphic design and film editing, I did alot of stuff for the school, like logos and making signs for special functions and things like that throughout my years at the school.

Yes I am into computers too. Im very good with photoshop and making films, not so much with how computers work and all that but mainly creative designing and film editing. URI would be a good fit for you. Keep your grades up and impress them and they will accept you. did either of your parents go there? and are you instate?

Thanks again, and yeh I will definitely try to keep my grades up. And no, none of my parents went there and I live in long island. So how do u like uri? Does it have a good night life?

Oh, and I have 2 math teachers and 2 English and my computer programming teacher that I definitely know will write me a letter of recommendations, does that look good if I have more recommendations or would admissions just get annoyed?

did you hear from them yet?

haha im not in URI yet. i was deferred because they needed my language waiver info. my parents when and my aunt and brother when. and thats a cool website is that you in the vids

Yeh those are me in the videos. Thanks for the compliment and no I didn’t even apply yet l, I’m probably going to apply fall of senior year. When did u apply?

Hey everyone, I’m a junior trying to find a decent college because I really do not want to goto a community college. My GPA is horrible because I screwed up in freshman year. My GPA is a 2.2, which is clearly awful. My SAT score: 1810, not too bad. I do 2 hours of community service each week and I have been for 2 years. Is there any possible way that I can get accepted to URI, or any decent school?? Please help!

no problem, im the exact opposite on SAT/GPA. i had a 3.3 GPA and a 19 on ACT and a 1300 on SAT out of 2400. but i also did community service, maintained 2 jobs since sophomore year, i won art awards, took art classes at RISD, so ill let you know when or if i get in or not and you can base your credentials with mine

valley2012 hate to say it but my friend had a 2.3 GPA and a high sat score, but got rejected upfront no deferral. you still have a year to bring it up. applying early action to URI : they will see your 1st semester grades so get off on a good start to senior year

idealwild, i got my 2 letters of recommendation in. I got one from my computer programming teacher who also teaches calcalus, and has been teaching comp. programming for over 20 years. and i got another from my math teacher. and my guidence counceler is going to write me a recommendation was well, sound good or do i need more?

I am a junior in High School and I currently have a 2.83 G.P.A. I severely plan to raise it. I have family members who went the URI and I plan to enroll myself into the Physical Therapy Program. I want the best and I feel you are the best college/program for me. I am taking a college anatomy and physiology course and my school and I currently have a B+. I also plan to intern at a physical therapy place and job shadow. I normally have A’s and B’s but I wanted the challenge this year and i plan to have a 3.8 G.P.A like I usually do. However are my chances slim or do I have a chance?

Thank you, Maddy

I have a 2.4 GPA but I heard that my school is very hard and that colleges add .3 or .4 to people’s GPA from my school (East Greenwich High School). Can I still get into URI?
