Can I get in?

Hello world!

I am a sophomore at the University of Miami looking to transfer to Mac next semester. I had straight A's in high school and took the only Honors/AP classes that were offered at my small college prep high school. At UM I have gotten all A's and B's but nothing to brag about. My SATs aren't great and my ACTs are even worse. I got a 1760 on the SAT and a 27 on the ACT w/ a 32 on the english portion. I got a 700 on the SAT II - Biology.

I am majoring in sociology but want to minor in environmental studies.
My extracurriculars were amazing in high school (Three season athlete, Choir, Band, Community Service, Key Club Founding Member, Peer Mentoring, Select Choir, Show Choir, Environmental Club, Environmental Science Award, Voted "Most Likely to Join the Peace Corps", Ben n' Jerry's employee)

At UM I have done a little less. I joined a Sorority which I dropped...SO not my thing. I was on my dorm's "green committee" freshman year and participated in a few community service trips. Other than that I don't have a whole lot else to put on my application. I am an excellent essay writer & hope to wow them with that but the pressure is getting to me and I don't know how good it is.

I am OBSESSED with Macalester. I am super liberal and love Mac's progressive/political environment, love the twin cities and the music scene there, hate giant lecture halls at UM and would love some smaller, discussion-based classes, miss snow and the seasons, Mac's study abroad (Soc Major), and have quite the infatuation with wool socks and irish sweaters.

Any tips?
Think I will get in?
...Think it is worth applying?

I advise doing some serious studying and then taking the ACT and/or SAT again. If you can get a better score, I’d say that you have a decent shot at making it. You are definitely on the right track in terms of everything else. Anyway, best of luck!

Agreed, work on SAT but you look solid to me!
