Hi.
I just want you guys' opinions if I could get in these colleges with my status. I'm an asian student going to colleges as an international student.

My (highest) SATI scores: Math:710, CR: 640, Writing: 660

SATII: Math Level 1-720, French-590, math level 2-580.
ACT: 28
(I could've scored alot higher, but now it's too late. didn't use a calculator on the math section)

I'm taking the hardest classes my school could offer. (6 AP's and bunch of H's)
I'm currently ranked 3rd out of 103.
GPA: 4.2 weighted

EC's:
I don't play any sports at all. But a lot of academic clubs and teams.(photography, art, science, magazine, etc..)
USAA National Minority Leadership award winner
USAA All American Scholar award winner

Schools:

Yale, CN
Middlebury, VT
Princeton, NJ
Winthrop, SC
Illinois Institute of Technology, IL
Berea, KY
Saint Josephs
Hofstra, NY
American University,DC

What do you think about my chances to these schools? I really'd love to go to yale, but i know it's a far reach. Or are there other schools that would match me more perfectly? thx.

AU, Hofstra, Saint Josephs, IIT and winthrop are all matches for you. You already know Yale is a far reach for you, but so is Princeton. Sorry, i'm not trying to be mean, but you're applying as an international student and your test scores aren't strong enough.. don't get your hopes up. good luck

thanks. I'm a little relieved now that i chose at least 3 colleges that are matches. but im gonna keep praying that i get into yale or middlebury, princeton.(hoping for my essay and recs) b/c who knows, right? good luck happens, sometimes. but eventhough i know it's afar reach, just hoping and believing brings me joy. (k. i'm rambling. but u can see how much i want this.)

Winthrop is a safety, not a match IMHO. You're above their 75% level for ACT and SAT. If you don't mind me asking -- why these schools? They are very different from one another.

Why do you guys always apply to schools like Yale, Princeton, and Middlebury? These schools are exceptionally difficult to get into. All you have to do is take a peak at the published SAT and GPA ranges for accepted Freshmen from the previous year to understand you are not competitive and have almost no chance of getting accepted...

Anyway, most of the other schools you listed will probably accept you.

"Why do you guys always apply to schools like Yale, Princeton, and Middlebury?"

I hate it when people tell others not to apply to big schools just because they don't have the highest sats because seriously, what do WE know? Atlantia, it's true your scores are below average for those three schools, but I do know someone who got into Yale with a 1300, and she wasn't a URM. Honestly, if ivies only looked at people based on SATs and GPA, they'd wind up with a bunch of losers who do nothing but study and spend money on tutoring to raise up their test scores.
I'm saying all this because... Not having the highest GPA and SAT scores doesn't mean you shouldn't even try to apply

that's very true. these schools are a lot different from each other. I did a lot of research and these were the schools that had the most financial help for international students. They had possible full tuition scholarships where as the other schools didn't give much help for international students as much as for american citizens. For example, if u are accepted to Berea, you don't have to pay tuition, b/c u work there through college. In Winthrop, if i win at least a $500 scholarship, i can go as an in-state student. (im considered an out-of-state student even in my own state). Yale, princeton and middlebury is need-blind AND gives need-based financial help, which is so kind.. but the problem is it's hard to get in. Most top schools are very generous, but also very selective.

I could've picked any school i liked. But really I had no choice when im in a financial hole.

Thanks for the comments. And intonation's encouragement :)
What are some possible reaches for me??

atlantia, if you're lucky, you'll get a really friendly yale interviewer. so if you do, yay. odds are that you will. most yale alumini are nice, unlike harvard ones...ugh!

OP, you sound like a very nice and smart person. testing means nothing...except to colleges. don't worry, i have bad testing too.
