Can i get in??

What are my chances at the U of R?

I want to major in economics, I live in Maryland, I have allready been accepted to U Illinois-urbana and purdue-WL w/ 1710 new SATs (1st time I took them) and w/out SAT 2s

610M 600CR 590 W

1210 OLD SAT, 1800 NEW SAT, Essay score 8

700 SAT II math level 1
540 lit (yes I kno i rly messed up and i knew that I had, i only took it cuz its a requirement @ brandeis and cornell...BUT i could have taken french and spanish language that would have been an easy 800, i didnt only cuz i had APs, my councelor told me not to)

I speak both french and spanish I am Latino
AP french 5
AP spanish 5

Apparently my Essay was very good (according to my councelor)

Private french international school, highly regarded in east coast

3.5 GPA (not sure at all, say its 3.3 to b safe)

Interview went great, the guy said i was very well spoken

I have work experience as well,

-I interned at a Law firm in downtown DC "Paul Hastings LLP"
-I work for a landscape architect as well, taking care of his plants,

I also have Computer skills for what its worth...i wont go into detail...my ECs are pretty gd:
-basketball
-building comps/websites
-travel (cultural experiences, france mexico belgium peru etc...)

they like unique situations like yours, i'd say you have at least an average chance

OK well not considering the uniqueness do I have any chance?

i dont know for sure, but your Sats are a little low, and if your gpa is less than a 3.3 than it'll be a bit shady.

i think the fact that ur a unique applicant gives u a pretty good chance regardless of your stats. then again, what i think is pretty irrelevant when it comes to actually applying/getting in (how unfortunate...)

i think u have a more than an average chance. I know people who got in early decision this year with SATs and GPAs lower that yours. What will give you the edge is the fact that you know 3 languages and come from a very diverse background; they totally love people like that. Hope to see you there next year!

Thanks, are you currently at Rochester?

no, but i was accepted ED.

Does any1 else think I have good chances?

it looks like you have a good shot considering everything besides your SATs... i'd say that a 3.3 gpa is reasonable for rochester, but you said you're not sure exactly what your gpa is? or (out of a hundred) what's your average? i applied rd myself.

Your stats aren't spectacular, but you definitely have a shot........anyway, all there is to do now is wait for their decision.

I go to a french school, so all grades are over 20...if I were to estimate roughly I would say 3.3-3.5GPA

The courseload is extremely rigorous, I'm in the International baccalaureate program and french baccalaureate program... I got my american HS diploma last year...the school knows this, I met w/ a representative @ my college councelors office the day before the interview...so they know...I know about some1 who had failed his senior year (by french standards) and got into U of Rochester from my school

i think i'd say you've got a chance, then. the whole french/france thing will really make you stand out to admissions officers. i doubt many would turn down an opportunity to diversify the accepted student pool a bit. good luck :)

dannggg, they took my posts off here too...anyway, u have a good chance, they look for diverse applicants, i was accepted 1230/1810, 16/309, 4.1w
