Chess-Achieved top 3 in multiple state tournaments. President of chess club in 9th grade and taught many kids how to play and strategies.)
Music-Co-President of Performing Arts Club at school.
Will join Model Congress, and Science Olympiad for junior and senior year.

<p>This makes it sound like you’re only doing it to get into college, just FYI. Only participate in activities you really love, and which you can express love for in essays. Otherwise it just looks like filler, and the adcoms know. </p>

<p>Your SAT is good but not great. I’ve seen worse here though. Try to even out your scores a bit (get the R/W subscores above 700, ideally). Write good essays and get good recs, and you should have a decent shot.</p>

<p>You have similar stats to our S that is starting this Fall. Shouldn’t be that much of an issue. It’s also dependent on what major you want to get into. More impacted ones are usually harder to get into.</p>

<p>It doesn’t actually depend on which major, rather it depends on which college (L&S, engineering, chemistry, etc.).</p>

<p>Recommendations are not included in the UC application in most circumstances. I would definitely recommend trying to raise your SAT scores in the reading and writing sections as well.</p>
