can I get in?

Hey guys so I am a junior from California planning on majoring in the Bio field/medicine.

I’ve been really stressing out lately because I really want to get into a UC but I don’t feel like I’m good enough to get in. Heres just like a list of things that I do, scores etc that kinda show what i’ve done throughout high school. Please please let me know anything I should do or try!!

Unweighted cumulative GPA: 3.5
Weighted cumulative: 4.2
Classes taken so far:
Freshman: Biology, English 9, Geometry, PE 9, Health/World Geo, French 2
Sophmore: Honors Chemistry, English 10, Algebra 2, AP European History, Yoga, French 3
Junior (current): AP Bio, AP Lit, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Honors PreCalc, Honors French, US History
AP Test scores: 4 on AP Euro (only results I have gotten back :))
Extracurriculars: Volleyball (3 years), Indian Classical Dance (8 years), DECA (business club- 2 years), National Honor Society, Science Alliance Club officer (future President)
I have regionally placed in my DECA event, and was an overall finalist in my category.
I have done an “internship” with the Perry Outreach Program
I have taken two SATs, my best scores in each category were: Critical Reading: 710, Maths: 700, Writing: 780, with a 10 on my essay; both times i received a 2110.
I am taking the May Sat Subject tests in Biology and US History and the Math II Subject test later in the year.
I am also taking the ACT in June and September because I am not completely satisfied with my SAT score.

Thats pretty much it. Any other suggestions for colleges I should be looking into?

~Thanks so much!

Not sure how competitive UCs are in California since CA is like 1000 miles away but feel like there shouldn’t a problem to get in low UCs?

You look like a competitive applicant for the UC’s. Is your Weighted GPA, your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You should be able to get into several of the UC’s. Just make sure you have some good backup safety schools on your list. Good Luck.

@Gumbymom I used your calculator and got a 3.71. Do you have any backup schools I should be looking at?

UCI, UCSB, UCSC, and UCR should be matches for you
UCB, UCLA, and UCSD are all reaches

Your UC GPA is a bit on the low side for UCI and UCSB. UCSC and UCR would be matches due to your SAT scores.
Agree with @TalkTheTalk that the rest of the UC’s are Reaches.

For a safety, your local in-service area Cal State would be an appropriate choice. You might also want to consider CSULB and SDSU as solid Match/Low Match. SDSU has a very good Pre-Med/Pre-professional advising center and several Medically related clubs that would be of interest.

If you plan to apply to Medical School, you want to have the highest GPA possible, some medically related EC’s and a high MCAT score, so any of these schools would be worth a look.

Some privates to consider would be USC, Univ of Pacific, LMU and Occidental.

I would get more bio/med related EC’s. Volunteer at hospital, lab research etc.
