I have 3 School Records in running and will have a 4th soon. My GPA is around 4.4 and my class rank in the top 15. These next two years im really really going to give it all ive got to try an get into an ivy league university such as cornell, princeton or penn to pursue a degree in economics and business. My guidance counselor and i have developled this schedule over the next two years to give me the best oppurtunity of acceptance and I'd like to know what you think of it

Along with my 3 sports and 3 clubs

My Gpa should be around 5.3 ish due to the weight our school puts on honors and AP courses

My whole family lives up in the New England area and im desperatly trying to get into one of these colleges so I can be given the best chance to leave a mark on this world

If you guys could tell me what my chances are for Cornell accepting me (im doing early decision) it would be wonderful

Thanks for your time,
Roger

You can get in...but will you is another story...You might want to post this in the general Cornell forum. Work on your leadership roles, your EC's, you volunteer work (if you aren't already), SAT's, Sat II's, and most importantly your essay. If you do all that you have a shot.

I'm a little confused about your schedule; are "AP English" and "Honor English" two separate classes? Anyways, my suggestion is do run for leadership in clubs, but it would be better if you participate and excel in activities outside of school. Cornell also seems to stress on math and sciences, so make sure to do well in those classes. Yes, write superb essays, but what weighs more are grades/independence and leadership/motivation (for one of my mediocre essays I only wrote around 70 words, or should I say I sent the application in without saving--o0pps). What pulled me up was my leadership in music and sports and a 4.0 unweighted GPA with 12 AP classes up to senior year. I would say you have a high chance if you apply ED, but might I remind you that if you're admitted, you have to say goodby to Princeton or Penn or whatever, since ED is binding. Good Luck.

do u think i should apply ED to princeton or penn and if i dont make it appl RD to cornell?

You are talking about some VERY DIFFERENT schools, so apply ED where you want to go the most and where you would fit in the most. All of those three schools are GREAT, so you really can't go wrong. Apply ED where you picture yourself being for college, GL!

yea, if you ED in the wrong college you could get stuck, depending on the university's rules

i think you have a good shot. all you need to do now is cure cancer to seal the deal :P

but seriously, what you have there is really impressive and as long as you don't do something stupid or screw up your essays, you have a very very good shot. do you have a major in mind? your strategy to apply ED to another Ivy with the rationale that their all the same is a little flawed. Cornell is MUCH MUCH different than say, Brown, Dartmouth, or even Penn. Cornell has way more undergraduates than Penn and arguably offers more majors, but some programs at Penn are much better than Cornell (business, nursing to name a few), so if you think you'd have an inclination to do any of those, then go for Penn. But really, you should visit and further study Cornell or any of the Ivies to get a good sense of what's offered and what you'd enjoy.

wow man, just do your work and get on with life, getting into a particular school shouldn't be your life goal here. Just do what you love in high school and keep your grades up, you'll be fine. And you definitely don't need to get into a top 25/top whatever college to make a mark in the world. There are plenty of people who went to a state school that are highly successful

Well, actually I'm in the 10th grade at the moment. I am about an approximate rank of 79 out of 479 in my school, My guidance counselor told me that I'm at the most top 10-15% of my school, I am also taking EC's like ACC and Robotics, won an award in Robotics. I volunteer at the library at a regular day to day basis and also.... I will be probably a co-leader of my ACC club very soon, I just hope to brush up on my leadership qualities eh? :)
