ALSO DOES BEING IN THE IB HELP OR NOT
ALSO BROTHER DIED A YEAR AGO AND DAD LIVES IN ANOTHER STATE
SCHOOLS ARE USC UCLA U-CAL SANDIEGO UNC-chapel hill CORNELL

Write good essays and you should be able to get in. If you spent a lot of time writing and editing you should have an excellent chance. If you wrote them the night before then chances aren't so hot (unless you're really good at procrasinating good writing).

How tough were the courses your IB diploma? I'm pretty sure the rigor of courses is the number one factor in admissions decisions. Still, having an IB diploma with any subjects will help because you take hard courses in all subject areas which matches the liberal education philosophy at Chicago.

You are totally in. URMs with those stats=closest there is to a sure thing. The GPA is the only low, but UChicago loves IB.

GPA is not all that important at U of C. What is important is that one can show that one challenged oneself. That and the essays are most important.

"SCHOOLS ARE USC UCLA U-CAL SANDIEGO UNC-chapel hill CORNELL"

I'm not sure OP is interested in University Of Chicago???
Great candidate though if U of C fits what he wants.

I would be totally shocked if you were rejected

Good chance and good luck!

I'm sorry about your brother.
