i totally agree with sabre.
goodluck with your apps eel :)

why i want to go to BS: im in 10th grade and i just turned 16 and a the pace i'm going in high school i will graduate in a few months and will have 1/6 of bachelors degree attained (and 1/4 if i get to take online college classess).. and i'm 16! i want to do more.. i want to take mroe interesting courses and dvanced classes and hone my writing, art, and language skills and meet more interesting people and belong to such a great community. i prob won't even apply to the ivy's (i'm a legacy at yale and it goes back to the 1800's.. big donor.. and harvard) except for brown (was told by them i would be a good match and i love their education program and artsy population and RI is like..my home away from home)..i'd rather go to college with 1200 SAT average and INTERESTING people that aren't so tunnel-minded and brand-oriented. sadly, people on this forum don't get that. it's sad because there are a lot of talented kids here who don't seem like they would ever be happy in life other than that one moment when they get the acceptance lette (IFFF they do)..very sad.

im sorry if i made anybody upset for the reason im applying but this is my choice and i control my life

good for you. your contolling your life and im controlling mine.

as i stated b4, its not definate that i will get in or not( personally i have the feeling not, but im trying any way)and if i do get in i will go and if i don't i will stay at my public school where there are advatanges that are not provided at boarding school

wat school do you go to????? i cant believe i never asked

my english teacher always say...
If you want to get into a top notch college, your best bet is go to your local public school

If you want to be prepared for a top notch college, go to a top BS

If you want both, work your ass off at a top BS

and one last thing, acceptance or rejection, wat matters is that i TRIED

if i am accepted i do plan to work my ass off. it will be painful, but worth it

very good.
we were just giving you your chances, like you asked.

and one more thing, just because i want to a top notch boarding school and an ivy, that doesnt mean you know everything about me.

any way, i have a question that i hope you can answer. i sent in my application on time and i want o know how do they do the admission stuff. they have like 2000 applicant stuff times the number of stuff needed from the applicant

stop being so defensive!!!!!!

defensive on what!!!!!!! im just xtremly curious

i mean with my 6 appl i used the whole dinning room table!!!!!!! they have 2000

they have processors and the staff organizes the stuff into systemetic binders for the adcoms, they usually end up in computerized spread sheets with all the states and summary of recommendations and essays, so no need for beautiful binding or paper or things like that..they dont get to see it

o thanx.................

bearcats wrote: "so no need for beautiful binding or paper or things like that..they dont get to see it"

OTOH, I think what you're also telling me is that the GOOD NEWS about that is that the goofy looking children's storybook stamps that my son put on his Hotchkiss application envelope won't mean he'll be automatically rejected, right? (j/k)

wow..u r so smart..how did u figure that out...if your son has half the intelligence you have, he can get in anywhere lol

eell, I hope that you have learned some about the boarding school admissions/process from this thread. Please remember that if, in any other context, no one on this board (hopefully) would have anything negative to say about you. One thing that people tend to forget on chances thread is that they don't know you, and they're not evaluating you as a person, just your stats. They're quite different.
I think that if you want to go to a boarding school because you want to be prepared for an Ivy League school education, that is your decision, and if it's best for you, that's fine. However, there is one thing you said that sort of concerned me; you said that schoolwork or something like that wasn't "something [you] do for recreation". That's quite fine; most people are like that. Remember, though, that at top boarding schools, are lot kids do do that sort of thing for recreation. You might become isolated if you don't enjoy that to some degree. Again, though, I don't know you, so if this isn't relevant to you, don't worry about it.
Ah, I forgot. Your essays. Those topics are not unusual, but they are not mundane, either. It really depends on how well you write. Good luck. :)
I have a question. People keep saying to people who are only applying to AESDCH and the like that they should apply to MAPL schools, but isn't it too late to do that? Or do they have later deadlines?
