Hello..I am new to this site, and i really would like some help..i would really like to apply to Portland State, Portland University, University of Oregon, and a few in Washington.. Me and my parents are moving up north from California, and im gonna have to go to college there, so i really would like some help from you guys. Heres my ish:
ATM im a junior in high school
I've met all my requirements for colleges..such as number of math classes, english classes etc. etc.
GPA:
Weighted 2.71
Unweighted 2.5

SAT1: 1230

CR: 390
M:450
W:440

Well also, the thing is, i havnt done much in high school, im sorta regretting it, and i wanna go back and try over again, but i cant.. Man im so flipping depressed atm, thinking i wont get in anywhere...i just cant stop thinking about this fact that i wont have a future...

If you were instate, I'd say you have a decent shot. But if not, you're really going to need to crank up, at a minimum, your standardized test scores.

No, definately little chances for those schools. Your GPA is very low and your SAT scores are very low. But try to look at smaller colleges, you'll be bound to get in somewhere.

Look at smaller Oregon State U's and Private U's. You are setting your sights too high. And no ec's?

well, i have a few EC's such as, volunteer work, i've worked in a few churches, i have done some other things and stuff...but ive read that people that got into Portland State University had GPAs of like 2.5, and they still got in, i mean i really wanna get in there, or somewhere smaller...can u guys give any suggestions on any smaller unis there?

As an in-state student, you'll get a break, which should help you out in the admissions process somewhat. Also, volunteer work is often looked upon favorably by colleges, so if you've done a fair amount of that, that will look good as well. Other advice: make sure you write a good college essay... that can furthermore give you a boost. I'd recommend, like several of the other posters on here, studying for and retaking the SATs. Also, you could try taking the ACTs because there are some people that do much better on those than the SATs.

Chances on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Portland State University... SEMI-REACH.
University of Portland... REACH.
University of Oregon... SEMI-REACH.

Some other schools to look into located in either Washington, Oregon, or California... California State University-Los Angeles, Eastern Washington University, La Sierra University, Mt. Sierra College (technical schools with majors solely revolving around computers), Walla Walla College,Western Oregon University.

im not giving up hope...im getting in no matter what, and im taking my ACT in MATH 2 in October, wish me good luck, so hopefully if i get 600+ ill do good, and the essay, itll be killer trust me i got a 10 on both of my SAT 1s lol :)

I dont know much bout Uportland.
However ur not in that bad shape. ur gpa isnt horrible for those schools.
Wat is unnacceptable at least for Oregon and Oregon State is ur SAT score.
ur gonna have to raise them at least 50 points per section. so bout 100 points combines and u should have a shot.
Ur not gonna have to go to a CC imo if u can get ur SAT scores up.

is there a possible way for me to get into Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State Fullerton... and Oregon State, Portland State, University of Portland, University of Washington, Washington State Vancouver, and a few more ill loook into later...with a

1400 SAT
2.7 Total Unweighted
2.5 Total Weighted
A few EC's such as; Habitat for Humanity, i helped build homeless homes, cleaned up around a few parks, im muslim so i helped to clean my mosque and i went there to help around..
Also, if u guys could leave me back some more ideas and some more schools i should look into..Thanks
