ilssa1257:At my school we do not get extra points for honor, but AP we do. However last year I took my first AP class and got a B in it. For AP we get one extra point added to our GPA so a B would count as a 4.0 instead of the regular 3.0.

This year which is my senior year im currently taking 5 AP classes and so far I have all A’s in all of them.

So I replied to you over on the Tech forum, but thought it was best to reply here for UGA. To recap for those not over there: Math 670, Critical Reading 660, Writing 710, Total SAT: 2040, 3.12 UWGPA (this gives a FI of 2915), good EC’s, competitive school.

UGA calculates your WGPA differently than Tech, so you will have to list the class with the grade for your UGA WGPA to be calculated. I really can’t see it getting higher than 3.2, though. Even assuming a 3.2 GPA, you’re not a match for UGA, but you’re not in horrible shape. Looking at some of the factors UGA considers ([4500 UGA admissions factors](http://www.terry.uga.edu/~dawndba/4500admsnsfactors.htm)), there’s still an outside chance you could get in, but it’s remote.

Again, I’d like to caution you that even if you don’t get into Tech or UGA, you should still look at other schools. Georgia State looks like a good match for you, and you could get into any other state school easily. Good luck.

The link I cited might be old, but it gives a relative perspective of the value UGA gives to certain factors. It took a lawsuit to get to that level of detail, so unless someone intends to sue the school for discrimination again, that’s the most recent information available. The link you cited is the standard “we look at everything” summary that all schools provide and that give no details.

It does at Tech, but I’ll have to leave this to someone more familiar with UGA to comment.

GP: Actually, UGA got rid of the system you have linked to after the lawsuit, and so these categories no longer apply. UGA does not look at alumni connection, they do not ask for specific hours for activities, there is no difference in review of an applicant based upon ethnicity, gender or state, the SAT scores are much different now, etc. In other words, none of this applies to current day admissions at UGA.

Advice from anyone: I have two ISS during my 9th grade year by the same teacher. One was for killing a creature (snail accidental but on the write up she wrote animal or something and the other one was for cursing at a student.) Do you guys think I should put that on my application since they ask a question about suspension.

LOL… getting an ISS for killing a snail… now that’s classic. I say you should tell them about the ISS, but it shouldn’t affect you all that much–you were in 9th grade. For the swearing one, though, just let them know that you were stupid and that you learned your part. lol
