can I get into a counseling grad school?

Cheerio.

If you have the right background. I am an English major and I got into 4 of the 6 colleges for Mental Health counseling.

Depends on what kind of “counseling” grad school you mean.

If you are talking about a counseling psychology PhD program, then probably not. Those places usually want you to have the equivalent of a major in psychology before they admit you. So unless you have that, no.

But there are many other grad programs that will allow you to do counseling that may be more flexible in their requirements. One route is to get a master’s in social work (MSW) and then get licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW). MSW programs usually take people from a variety of social science backgrounds.

Also many counseling master’s programs (mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, etc.) may allow you in on a probational status on the condition that you successfully complete some psychology courses.
