Can I get into a csu??

Are there any campuses I can get in, with a 2.83 csu gpa? - I know it’s very low.
My SATs are about 1300 and I plan on re-taking it, so hopefully I can raise it to about 1400.

Also, how hard is it to get into SDSU from community college?

Do you have any D’s?
What major?
Can you afford to live on campus? (The right CSU may be far from home)?
What’s your budget?
Do you know your EFC?
Would WUE be a possibility?

SDSU is one of the most competitive CSU’s.

You need an eligibility index of around 4100 SAT for a decent chance as a Freshman. Your EI is 3564 using your posted stats. Many of the CSU 's will be possible depending major except for SDSU, CSU Long Beach, Cal poly SLO/Pomona, Fullerton, Chico, some majors at SJSU.

Transferring can be difficult if you do not attend a local SD CC since priority is given to local applicants. You still need a solid Transfer GPA and as many major and pre-req classes completed.

How Cal States admit Freshman:

The Cal states admit by major and eligibility index. They really only consider GPA/Test scores/Geographic location and HS course rigor. Other than Cal Poly SLO, your EC’s are not considered.

You need to calculate your CSU/UC GPA using grades from a-g courses taken 10-11th.

Not sure which courses are a-g and will give you extra honors points, then use this link by typing in your HS name?

Cal states and the majority of the UC’s use the capped weighted GPA.

Then calculate your Eligibility index:
If you took the Redesigned SAT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 800) + (SAT Evidence Based Reading & Writing (EBRW) + Math Score) = Eligibility Index

Eligibility index for ACT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 200) + (ACT Composite x10)= Eligibility Index

**Also note that CSULB and SJSU will use a modified EI with emphasis on Math for their STEM/Engineering majors.

You will then be ranked based on EI and major and they accept from the top down until all spots are filled.

You will get priority at your local CSU which you can look up on this link. Local applicants usually require a lower EI to get an acceptance unless the program is highly impacted.

Impacted campuses/majors: https://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/ImpactedProgramsMatrix.pdf

With a 2.8 and 1300 (as long as you’ve completed the a-g courses,) you can get into most of the CSUs/. Most programs at Channel Islands, East Bay, Monterrey, Humboldt and probably SF, Sonoma and Sac among other. What are you looking for in a college?.

Among the above, Sonoma is the most residential and you can definitely get in.
Can you answer the questions in #1?

Do you have any D’s? - I do not
What major? - not exactly sure yet, but probably either history or business
Can you afford to live on campus? (The right CSU may be far from home)? - yes
What’s your budget? - don’t have one
Do you know your EFC? - Not sure
Would WUE be a possibility? - No, I’m international

If you are International, then you would be a full pay student. Figure on $36-40K/year to attend a CSU which would include tuition/room/board/books. Personal expenses and travel would be extra.

I suggest you find out your college budget before proceeding in making a college list.

Good about the D’s and for history your odds are good at almost all CSU’s except the most selective. (Although if you really wanted history I’m sure CPP could be possible.) Business is a very selective major so it decreases your choices.

Do you not have a budget because you’ve not discussed the matter?

it is really tough to rationalize OOS tuition for a CSU. Be sure you understand the cost and that your parents are willing to bear it.
good luck
