Can I get into a good school with a LOW SSAT score?

Just don't freak out, you don't really need our advice now. It doesn't matter, you will find out tomorrow.

yea i know..just needed that mental boost

Hmmm... well, that SSAT scores aren't exactly... good?

BUT, there is always room for improvement! As I said, I went from my first practice test score of a 68 nationally (55th SSAT?) to a 75 SSAT, to a 92 SSAT!

Just give it you all, and after a couple rounds you'll be less nervous.

scaredstudent.... they have no reason not to accept you; you seem like a great applicant.

Yah SSAT's aren't everything. I too tested poorly (87% with 91% superscore.)

wait wats superscore?

I think he's meaning his overall? I don't get the relation to the 87% though... is that his reading?

Superscore: Combination of highest SSAT scores taken (in multiple sittings)

example (in percentiles)
test 1: A: 90 B: 91 C: 40
test 2: A: 85 B: 85 C: 90
Superscore: A: 90 B: 91 C: 90
make sense? :P most schools take superscore, i think.

Ohhh! I see! COOL.

i did bad on my SSATs
the person that interviewed me at Exeter said not to worry about it, and that they're starting to realize that "they really don't matter that much"
and then he went on to say that "I would accept you here because we need you here, but unfortunately it is not up to me...but the admission's office"
a lot of it is luck. which is sad. and also...a lot of it is money.
there is so many different things that go into the admission process that overall you can't guess whether you can get in or not...instead just wait.
which i admit...stinks...because i'm right here with ya. i haven't been able to do my homework for the past four hours...

Eek! Good luck to you!

What year did you apply for?

I ended up changing my application for 9th grade (it was 10th grade)...I got sick a lot this year..like A LOT...but i fixed that for the most part...
thanks! good luck to you too!
i'm half awake.
ahhhh
where are you applying?

pbn, what do you mean by "bad"

50-70 or 70-90

I'm applying to Exeter and Andover... a.k.a no safeties! Hehe.

50-70
i froze up. ahh. i regret it a lot. and i never studied. i registered the night before...so i didn't really have a chance to..and then took it with no sleep because i was sooo nervous.
...
basically..it was a great day. hahaha

I just want to say something. For everybody here talking about "hooks," it is important to remember that an all-around, (very strong academically) student with no family ties at all can make it into some top schools such as Deerfield, Exeter, Andover, Choate. I think the SSAT is beginning to matter less and the essay and especially the interview is starting to matter more. Having an upbeat personality and amazingly unique and memorable outlook on life--everybody can do this in an essay if they try--is extremely important and valuable. Remember: One amazing/horrible thing is not going to make or break you as an applicant. Remember all aspects of the application process and try to do the best that YOU can, as a unique individual. Good luck, and let me know if I can answer any questions (I made it into a top school last year by myself, with no family ties or anything backing me up)!!

i have some things quite bad on my applications..and other things really good...
at this point one day i think i have a chance at my schools..and the next day..i don't think i do at all

did anyone receive a letter from there interviewer afterwards? like a card with stuff on it...i didn't know if that was normal

Oh I remember you scigirl! Exeter, right? Congrats!

yah, you are supposed to.
