Can I get into a UC?

I think my high school profile is pretty standard. I’ve taken 5 AP classes (10 by the time I graduate), got 4/5 on all exams, got my varsity letter, participated in the Latin club, and started a business.

The problem is I got a 3.6 GPA (weighted) and zero recorded volunteering hours!

I want to get into UC San Diego, but I know my GPA and volunteering will probably be a huge setback. With all these stats in mind, what are my chances of getting into UC San Diego? UCI?

I know I can transfer from a community college, but I feel like all of my AP classes, hours studying ACT, hours spent grinding for my sport, etc. would be wasted if I took this route because they’re not really prerequisites for community colleges.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1903428-faq-uc-historical-frosh-admit-rates-by-hs-gpa.html can show you prior year admit rates by UC weighted-capped HS GPA.

Using the link that @ucbalumnus posted, your chances are slim at UCSD. What are your test scores?

Best chances are at UCSC/UCR/UCM. UC’s are very GPA focused. With that said, apply and write some great essays, but make sure you have some solid Match and backup schools on your list so you do not get shut out.

Good Luck.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79:

UCB: 2%
UCLA: 3%
UCSD: 6%
UCD: 11%
UCSB: 13%
UCI: 16%
UCSC: 47%
UCR: 64%
UCM: 80%

Thanks for the help. I didn’t know UC schools were so GPA focused. I guess I’ll just have to do community college.
