Can I get into an Ivy?

What are my chances into a top school?

Spring of sophomore year, I got a 35 ACT, 36 math and english along with 33 reading and 34 science. That spring I also got 2250 SAT, 800 math, 750 reading, 700 english. As a junior, I just took the SAT again with same math and reading and a 790 english for a 2340 overall. I have plenty of time to retake, so should I?

PSAT scores are about to come out and I really expect to make the cutoff for a national merit scholar since I 1) studied this year and 2) got a 210 last year.

My GPA is a 4.0 and a 4.58, although this will definitely go up because I am taking a lot of AP and honors junior and senior year. My AP courses are:
AP US history, european history, government, calc AB and BC, stats, biology, chemistry, english literature, spanish language, psychology

These are literally all the AP classes offered at my school and I have honors classes along with those. I took two PLTW classes in the biomedical class. I have five years of language study as well.

My extracurriculars aren't great but will have played three sports for four years at school. I have 3 years of mock trial, 4 years of JCOWA (current events club), NHS, volunteering hours as an assistant coach for a volleyball team, a mission trip to Belize on my own with my family, work experience for 3 years.

I will probably be valedictorian, but my school doesn't tell rank until applications are filled out and the final 1st and 2nd of the class are a surprise on graduation night.

I am also white. I plan to apply to Ivy League schools along with Vanderbilt and Notre Dame. My second cousin plays football at Princeton if that would help me get in. Thanks for a response!

Your GPA and ACT are fabulous. Perfect. But remember there are many other people with scores and GPA that are as good as yours.

However, being in clubs for 3+ years, while good to show your commitment, is of little help unless you win some awards or any recognition. Do you have any awards? Your extracurriculars are very weak compared to other people who apply to Ivy leagues. I can’t see what you are good at or passionate about.

Notre Dame may be a low reach, but others are reaches because their selectivity and your ECs, unless your essays can trump out other weaknesses.

Do you have any safety/match schools you will be fine with if you get rejected by all those schools?

I concur. You are a white male from an obviously privileged family. Sure you have great test scores and stats, but that’s already kind of expected from you. The rest of your application is, to be put frankly, kind of bland and mediocre. I would be surprised if you got into HYPS. Probably will get into Notre Dame and Vandy.

And no, your second cousin would not help you.

Haha the second cousin was kind of a joke. @FuzzyPeaches22‌

I think you have a good shot, but it depends on your race. You have good scores/ gpa, and I think you would be a lock for the bottom 5 ivies.

I agree with “FuzzyPeaches,” your app doesn’t show your passions or your interests. What do you love? What are you curious about? What motivates you?

Most top schools like people who are more than just their stats. They are passionate and interesting and accomplished and witty. You may very well be some of those things, but I can’t see it from here.

I think you have a good shot… and depends on which ivy ure talking about… if cornell then definitely yes… HYP hmmm its hard to predict… Do work on your essay to boost your chance

chance me back

I think that your stats are amazing. You are probably better off than a lot if you want to apply to HYP. I think Columbia could be a lock though  Chance back?

Did you score all 5s on your AP tests? You have a very solid profile - it will boil down to your essays and your interviews. The Ivy League alumni interview is actually pretty important unlike almost all other colleges. Your passion, drive and intellect need to be conveyed. It sounds stupid but practice interviewing - tell me about yourself, why Harvard, toughest challenge overcome. The questions aren’t that tough until the interview

I’m still a junior, so I have a while until the actual application process. Thanks for the help though, but I haven’t really thought about interviews yet. @Wje9164be‌
