I just finished my junior year and I want to get into a 2nd tier university, specifically ucsb.
My stats:
UC gpa of a 3.4
Act score of 28 (retaking)
Sat II US history + Math 2
3 AP courses 2 honors
All recommended courses attended
ECs:
Finishing 100 hours of community service
Volunteer at local haunted house
Member of 3 clubs
Secretary of one club and treasurer of another
Assist dad in job
Employment
possibly cc courses during senior year

A UC GPA of 3.4 would not be competitive for UCSB freshman admission. UC Merced, UCR are possible and UCSC would be a reach. Whether or not that GPA would be competitive for a CSU would depend heavily on which CSU you are applying to and the service area you are applyling from.

I agree with the poster above… your GPA and score does not make you a competitive applicant for UCSB.
