I realized late jr year that I wasn't going to get into a UC, but I was sure I could get into a CSU however I decided to go to a community and then transfer to a UC. I finally decided this year (senior year) that I want to get into a CSU, but now looking at my profile I don't think I really have a chance at any CSU so I'm pretty worried now. I really want to get into CSU Fullerton, but if you think i can't make what other schools do you think I have a shot at?

My Basic Profile:
Cumulative GPA: 2.4 (with 3 D's....)
SAT: 1400
A-G Courses completed
Took AP us history, AP Bio, and AP spanish
First in my family to go to college
Major in Computer Science which isn't impacted at any csu except san diego (higher chance?)
Completed a certified program at Northrop Grumman and I'm also A+ certified which goes with my major

I just want to get into a 4 year now instead of going to a JC and then transferring, but I'm pretty upset looking at my profile since it doesn't really match the competition. The reason my main choice is Fullerton is because I like their computer science course structure, but at this point I want to apply to schools I have a chance to so if you think I have a shot at another school within california do let me know. Thanks in advance!

My best justification is that I go to the hardest school in my area and I was never really cut out to be in that school but I still tried and I at least survived. I could’ve easily gone to another local school and gotten a 3.5+ but I wanted to actually get structured for college rather than getting to a good college and having to dropout for not having the tools.

Due to excessive fees and little hope I think my only chance is community college =/ I wouldn’t wanna pay 50 applications to get nothing but rejections.

Do you have time to retake the SAT? If so, you should. Maybe if you had improved scores it would help your chances? Also, if you scored well on your AP exams it might help you out a bit. Why don’t you want to go to community college? If you feel like your current stats are not an accurate representation of your skills, then maybe it would be a good idea to go to community college first and then apply to a university once your stats have improved.

In CA, you’re allowed to retake the Ds, that you didn’t is a big black mark. Your best shot at a CSU is whichever one you’re in the service area for or the ones that have historically never filled up like East Bay, though they are probably all filling up now.

You can take classes to make up the D’s at BYU’s online high school program. My son did it for one D and it brought his GPA up by .6%. If you could do it for 3 D’s it would help a lot. BUT the Cal State apps are up today and close November 30 so you need to do it pronto! If you bring up your SAT by 100 points or so it would make a huge difference and you can retake through December. Good Luck!
