Can I get into any of these SoCal Colleges? If not reccomend some?

Hello, I am a junior in high school currently and really starting to get serious about looking for colleges.I live and Maryland and I currently go to a very good PRIVATE COLLEGE PREP CATHOLIC SCHOOL. We are well known throughout the state and have good academics. My cumulative GPA for freshman and sophomore year is 2.74 ( I really didn't try to my best ability). In Junior year thus far, I have about a 3.3 GPA for this year only (Not cumulative). I played 2 sports sophomore year and have I am in 2 clubs. I have yet to take the SAT but hope to get anywhere from 1600-1800. I also have had numerous jobs to keep me busy. COMMUNITY COLLEGE IS NOT AN OPTION.

I really didn't apply myself at all throughout high-school. That is obviously my biggest mistake thus far.

Some extra credentials that might help me are:
-Jobs (Lifeguard at pool, Cashier/Server at Snowball Stand)
-Took multiple Business Classes in HS (Good Grades in Them)
- Volunteer at Soup Kitchen (40 hours so far)
-Junior Prom Committee + Asian American Club (Junior Year)
- Outdoor Track+ Cross Country (Sophomore Year)

I feel as though the biggest thing that will impress colleges with myself is that I started an online Amazon/Ebay business. Currently, I have over $25,000 in sales and that is continuing to grow.

I am looking for a college in Southern California (LA Area). Since I will be living on campus at least freshman year I would prefer for it not to be a commuter campus.

Here is my list of preferences:
-Southern California (LA AREA)
-Somewhat close to the beach
-Good Business and/ or Engineering Program
-Non-Commuter Campus
-Good Campus life (including parties/greeklife)
-Any size is fine

Basically, Im looking for an OKAY (Doesn't have to be prestigious) Southern California College that I have a good chance to get into. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

LMU is definately my top choice, it is perfect for all of my needs. Price is not an issue.

My list goes like this:
1) Loyola Marymount (LMU)
2) University of San Diego
3) University of Redlands
4) Chapman
5) Occidental
6) SDSU

Any other Match/Safety Schools would be appreciated.

I am looking for some Match Schools and Some Safety Schools. Thank you soo much!

Do the best you can on your SAT, practice for it. Then try Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles <a href=“Loyola Marymount: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA”>http://collegeapps.about.com/od/GPA-SAT-ACT-Graphs/ss/loyola-marymount-university-admission-gpa-sat-act.htm</a></p>

Not just the one in San Diego.

but I really wonder what your CSU / UC gpa is. If you just cut out freshman year, and IF your sophomore year is a 2.7 but your Junior year is a 3.3 that averages to a 3.0 even unweighted, and if you have any APs they might be counted higher. The reason I ask is that some of the CSUs were once colleges on their own and were later pulled into the CSU system and I think you might like some, like Chico: <a href=“Chico State: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA”>http://collegeapps.about.com/od/collegeprofiles/p/chico-state.htm</a></p>

picture tour of Chico: http://www.csuchico.edu/maps/photo-tour/index.shtml</a></p>

I don’t swear by us news by any means, but for browsing, it gives you a thumbnail of a college to decide if you want to look further. Here are their Regional Universities (their ranking) for the West. You can look under the name to see what western state houses the University. Regional universities go through Masters degrees but have few if any doctoral degrees in US News/s groupings. http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/regional-universities-west</a></p>

UCSB maybe a reach but it is probably worth a shot. It is holistic so your EC’s, job experience, and essays could help you, while at any CSU they are worthless. It fits all of your needs and is literally on the beach. However it is not really LA area if that’s what your looking for but definitely is not a bad place at all.

Any other suggestions?

Based on your stats, I think all the colleges on your list are probably reaches. Maybe CSU Channel Islands, San Marcos and Northridge. Hard to know without more concrete stats.
