Can i get into bard?

My grades this year look like all As and Bs with possibly 1 C. All my courses high honors and honors, the only C is in an AP. Last year and the year before are similar.

I read someone had said to show a strong passion in something, which for me is music. I'm in the acapella group in my high school and have been in band for 4 years. Im doing a music pre-college at MSM and i have tons of supplements of my own compositions, and albums from my own bands.
Because Bard has such a strong music department, I'm hoping this will really help my getting into Bard, am i wrong?

Do i have a chance? It is definitely my first pick and i will apply early.
I would really really appreciate the help.
Thanks.

Applying early and being in an acapella group and having albums of your own are definitely positive points in your app.

You have a shot! Go for it!

Your grades sound strong enough to boost you into bard, but hearing your test scores might help out chances.

One thing to note about Bard is that their music department is actually its own school - a conservatory. If you want a degree in music, you either do a four program solely at the music school or do a 5 year combo program with one academic major and one music major.

Nevertheless, even if you only want a regular academic major, I do think your passion for music will show in an application. Just make sure you emphasize realms outside of sheer performance, going into theory, writing, criticism of music to show that you have academic potential in addition to performing potential.

Just to clear up confusion about music degrees at Bard:

Bard College offers a BA in music which takes four years in the college.

Bard College Conservatory mandates a BM in music and a BA in the college and it is a five year program. Entrance to the conservatory requires an additional application and an audition.

I figured out i would do the 5-year double major program in music and possibly computer science, auditioning for the conservatory as a trumpeter.

thanks for all the advice, i really appreciate it!
