Can I get into Barrett Honors College?

HELP!!! Do I have a chance of getting into ASU’s Barrett Honors College? Do any of your kids go to Barrett? If so what did they have?

I am a Junior in high school and I know I have another year but judging on these stats, how do I look?

I know its ASU (anybody can get in) but apparently the honors college is hard to get into…

Here are the stats on Barrett admissions. I’d assume that it’s somewhat easier if you’re from AZ. Your ECs look very strong; I’d think that you could get enthusiastic letters of recommendation:

Average Unweighted GPA of Entering First-Year Students 3.84
Average SAT Scores for Incoming Students (Fall 2010) 1314 / 1600
Average ACT Scores for Incoming Students (Fall 2010) 29
Percentage of Entering Freshman in Top 10% of High School Class 78%

My son is a freshman at Barrett this year - he loves it! When he went on a campus visit before applying they stressed applying early, having a great essay - they said to “think outside the box” and of course, submit great letters of recommendation. Keep up your hard work and good luck!

I would retake the SAT, that is your only handicap. You need AT LEAST an 1800, but preferably need to break 2000. Other than that, I think you have a good chance! Start your essay ahead of time and get strong letters of rec.
