Can I get into Boston University?

Hi! So I'm a junior in high school and bu has been on the top of my list for a VERY long time now. I was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me if I have a bad, okay, or good chance of getting in. My stats are a little iffy, but i have no idea if they're good enough or what i could do to get in. Also, would early decision be a better idea? Thanks for your time!

Stats:
applying from georgia, spent most of my life in germany
GPA: 3.88 (hopefully a 3.9-4.0 by the end of my senior year)
SAT: 1790 (only took it once, taking again in summer)
4 AP classes: AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP US History, AP Lit
I was in the honors program for freshman and sophomores, and was in all accelerated math classes
I got a 730 on the German SAT II, I plan on taking math this summer
I tutor freshman and sophomores
100 volunteer hours
Member and volunteer at Red Cross
I'm in National Honor Society, the Support Coalition, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Buddy Club, and Health Occupation Students of America
I have been a varsity cheerleader all four years, I will be captain next year. and i played varsity soccer my sophomore year

The problem is I'm not really the leader of anything and I haven't been using my summers wisely because I haven't cared until this year AND we just don't have the money to send me to any fancy trips. HELP!!!

Boston University is not that hard at all, considering your STats.
I think your a match, or maybe even in.
It is competitve, but the average application is similar to you.

Here’s the profile of a recent entering class; you can compare your stats. Many schools publish the CDS data.

Your chances will go up significantly if you can increase your SAT I score. Presently, your SAT I is a little below the median (so you have some work to do there). What is your class rank or approximate decile (top 10 % top 20%, etc.).

Also, being the cheerleading captain IS a leadership position, so good news there. Evaluate your financial requirements as well as your academic qualifications. I’d say your chances are okay but not good-- using your words. Good luck!

okay, thanks guys!
i’ll definitely be working on those SATs! but i’m in one of the top public schools in Georgia, so with a 3.88 GPA i’m only in the top 25%. A couple of students from our school get accepted into harvard and yale every year…

also, will applying from georgia, hurt or help me in any way?

^ It will be considered, says the link I posted above. There really is good info in the CDS; use it! :)

And that usually mean positively for you, for geo diversity.

I just got in, and I had 3.9 gpa sat 2200.
but I think you’ll be ok if you retake sat
best wishes.

being cheerleading captain will be a great leadership position, so don’t worry  your SATs are a little low, but everything else is great! and since you’re already planning to retake them, i think you have great chances at bu. good luck!

chance me back?

if you retake the SATs and get a higher score, I think you’re set.
