Can I get into Boston University?

I have a 1360 SAT (currently working on retaking)
4.59 weighted GPA
8 AP Classes (4’s on all of them)
Work two jobs (30 hours a week)
Peer tutor during study hall and I am also a tutor leader
secretary of spanish honors society
NHS member
Volunteer aid at my church teaching a Sunday School class
Pep Club member

I know my SAT Score is kinda low but I’m hoping to score a 1400+ on my next SAT

please lmk!!

With a higher SAT you will be competitive. What is your unweighted GPA, class rank, etc? 30 hrs work / wk is a lot! That replaces the traditional ECs like sports, band, etc. Make sure that comes across in your application as it’s quite impressive.

Best of luck.

My unweighted GPA is 3.8-3.9 ish, I am in the 95th-99th class percentile (I am not entirely sure what this means though)

If you can get your SAT up you probably have a good chance. I agree that working 30 hours per week is a lot and should take the place of ECs. You should run the NPC and make sure that you can afford it, unless you are okay being full pay (we would have been full pay for BU with slightly higher stats, which we were not okay with).

Definitely also apply to a safer alternative that you would be willing to attend.

Let me be blunt: Yes. You seem to be a pretty strong candidate, even with the low SAT score. BU has accepted students with far lower GPA and SAT scores from my school, and even if you slip a little, that EC schedule (especially working for so long each week) will regardless show dedication. You have nothing to fear from BU; you’re likely one of the highest students that will be admitted to their class. Between you and me, even though BU has a reputation as being prestigious and selective, they are no Ivy. You will get in with a far lower GPA, and though your SAT could be improved, it’s still pretty good.
