Your SAT is a little low compared to the serious competition, but otherwise you are in the ballpark to have a shot. You’ll need to take a couple of SAT IIs also.

Whether you have a good shot depends on what you actually accomplished in your ECs and community service work and how well you express those details in your application. Also, strong essays and exceptional letters of recommendation can help you stand out from the crowd. Certainly I would encourage you to apply – but I would also counsel you to apply to a wider range of schools plus a safety or two.

I think you would be great for Brown. The stats that they publish indicate that your SAT is a little low, but you can retake - and they will review your application holistically. Rock out on those essays! Best of luck.

Hi everyone. I am also reaching the end of my Junior year in HS. I just joined College Confidential and I was hoping that maybe you guys could help me out. I also want to do Early Action for Brown University. So, can you can please chance me? It would be a huge help.

GPA: 3.8

ACT: Still low, 25

If you guys could chance me it would be a huge help. I’m really starting to stress about college. I just need some advice

^Way to hijack the thread.

To the OP, you’ll have a great chance if you write ass-kicking essays! Just make sure you can reflect on your experiences and talk about them in a mature (and creative) way.

@serglok you have a good chance just kill your essays

@serglok, Half your awards/ECs are useless fillers, be careful what you mention in the application that REALLY matters to you. You need to increase you’re ACT by atleast 7 points to have a real shot in early admissions.

sergiok - Your GPA and especially your ACT just WAY too low. I don’t think you have a shot.
