Can I get into Brown with a C in 1st Semester Senior Year?

Exactly what the title says… I might get a C in AP Calculus BC in my 1st semester… All my other classes, and I have 3 more AP’s will be A’s. How will this affect my chances for Brown? I’m applying RD by the way…

Who knows? Mine had a C in that class the 2nd semester, but of course they didn't see that at admissions time. Still she got 5 on the AP exam. I'd say they will look at the whole package. But I'd try anything to avoid that C while you still have time. You want the strongest package possible and avoiding any C's would be part of that, imo.

You are lucky you're a senior..I'm a junior and I might get a C in AP Calc this semester...God help me....

Same here...I might get a C in Calc BC first semester. I am thinking of dropping. But then I would only have 2 APs. So I really don't know. It's the only thing messing up my straight A's.

My grade in AP Calculus is going to be crap too ><.

Hhahhahaa you guys don't know how u guys made my day...Goood Calc is hell
maybe we should start a thread: "CALCULUS IS HELL"

Agreed. I'm actually getting a C in AP Calc BC cuz i'm failing so much...and I have As in all my other 3 AP classes....

it sucks. I'm stressing out cuz of this C. How about we just motivate each other to get at least a B? lol

i got in with a C in calc.

YEss YESS I'll diee for a B right now lol
At first I was stressing out to get an A, but now...screw thiss :D

and andhangmyzen i think ur just amazing overall that they don't care about ur C

yea if ur extra stuff is really good it can overlook bad grades

oooh people like me! :)

Possible D here...first quarter though, so I only need C or above 2nd quarter to not look mentally incapable for Brown.

hey guys I my calc grade is getting worse :(

I wouldn't care. Among your grades, your C is an anomaly meaning that Brown will be able to see that you are a brilliant student.

This thread just made my day... I missed school today for a Peer Ministry retreat and I found out that my BC Calc class went through 7 sections, less than 10 sections away from finishing the entire curriculum. Needless to say, I'm not doing so well either.

is it terrible if you have 6 AP's, are working, but get 3 A's and 3 B's first semester of senior year?

btw, this is considering that ive never gotten a B. this is NOT senioritis. ahhh how do we convey this to them?

You don't have to. If you have an obvious trend, and in every other class the trend maintains, it's pretty obvious. For you icecream, If it's your first big bout of AP's all at once, i'd say it'd come across the same.

im sorry, i didnt really understand what you mean by "itll come across the same." does that mean that it will be considered senioritis, or it will not? i took one AP in sophmore year, 4 in junior, and now 6 in senior. our school works in a weird way, thats the max you can really take per year. thanks for your reply :)

ohmigosh i'm so glad i'm not alone! i'm pretty sure i got a solid 79 in ap micro this semester :(
ap micro = worst class i've ever taken. ever.
this c (my first C ever!) is driving me insane! i'm so worried i wont get into any colleges now :(
