I am a rising senior at a very small and competitve Catholic highschool about 12 miles outside of Chicago. I maintain A honor roll status and participate in as many honors and AP classes as possible. I am in the National English Honor Society as well as The National Honor Society Alexine Chapter. I am nearly fluent in both Italian and English, my first language being English. I will also have dual citizenship in Italy and the U.S. by the end of the summer.

I volunteer at my school as a leader in Roadrunner Club. The organization selects its members for their grades, leadership qualities, morals, and character. I am also a participant in Youth Initiative at my school where I help to enhance freshman student experiences as well as lead a conference against drugs and alcohol.

In my parish I serve in a youth ministry group helping in outreach to other communities. I also volunteer at the Shedd Aquarium. I aspire to become a marine biologist and work to save ocean environments. At the aquarium I interpret exhibits to guests and also teach them how to protect and conserve the environment.

I have gotten very good recommendations from teachers, guidance counselors, and business superiors.

If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I LOVE BROWN!!!

Can’t say anything without sat2/sat1/act/GPA

I got a 1950 on SAT and 30 on ACT with a 4.2 GPA

Somebody please help me out!

That will be tough, the average for brown is a 2135 sat score.

So is the only drawback my test scores, I’ve only taken them once and can probably do better if I take them again

Talk with your High School guidance counsellor re your Brown chances, and if they can let you know how you compare to other students from your HS who have gone to Brown or similar schools. That said, often Browns acceptances and denials can be unpredictable.
I would definitely retake SAT etc if you think these scores don’t represent your ability, and you can bring scores up.
Also if you are really gung ho re the marine biology, then I would want that to show re a heavy commitment to the volunteering there, (lots of hours, and some real “inside” the organization depth, and hopefully a really good letter of reference from someone “academic” who knows you well there, in addition to the usual teacher recs. )
These are likely to help you where ever you apply.

Which Catholic high school outside of Chicago? -(Recently admitted to Brown from a suburb Catholic high school)

Cubfan, you shouldn’t ask questions that would reveal someone’s identity. PM her if you really need to know.

Isabella, I know you are feeling anxious and nervous. But none of us here work for Brown admissions, so we really have no idea what your chances are, especially since we can’t see your teacher recs, transcript, essays, etc. You seem like a viable candidate, especially if you raise your test scores. Good luck.

All that can be said after test scores/GPA is that you need to pour your heart into your essays.

thanks soooo much!! i plan on retaking the SAT or ACT soon.

I think you have a pretty good chance, you just need to do good on your essays. Do not report your SAT, your ACT is actually way better. Take SAT II’s just to try to stand out a bit more. Honestly, nothing shines, but you can make the effort through your essays. FYI, this is a prediction, not an acceptance letter. Lol. (: Good Luck!!

I wrote an essay for my teacher to read and she absolutely loved it. It was about my experiences both at the aquarium and throughout my life how I have always had a passion fpr conservation and the ocean! He said it’s one of the best she’s read. So hopefully I’m counting on that to put me over the top!! Thanks again.
