Can I get into CAL POLY?

My weighted CAL State GPA is 2.7.
APUSH: 5
AP English: 3

AP World: 3

Currently working on AP Cal, Gov, and Eng. lit
I got a 1150 on my SAT and I’m going to retake in November.
24 on ACT.
Varsity Football … etc other clubs
I plan on majoring History, alt Political Science.
I read another thread that GPA did not mean everything to some schools. But my low GPA comes from my honors and AP classes and it is eating me up everyday. Any suggestions for any Cal States that would take me if poly wont?

GPA is the number one factor in the Poly admission algorithm. AP scores play no role in admission. Is the SAT two sections or all three?

I think (but I’m not sure) that Long Beach has a good history program. Most of the CSUs have history. Some are very easy admits. Personally, I’m partial to Humbolt, because I like the location. It’s certainly love it or hate it (but so is SLO).

I’d suggest you apply but, consider SLO a reach. Based on your stats, I encourage you to consider Sac, SF and Sonoma.
good luck

Also worth considering community college and a transfer to your CSU of choice - at this point SLO is probably too much of a reach.

Take a look at last year’s Freshman profile and see where you stand for the College of Liberal Arts:

Student Profiles 2016:
CP GPA: 3.94. SAT: 1290 ACT:29

Consider SLO a Reach, apply but have some backup schools. I would look at some of the non-impacted campuses such as Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, Stanislaus, Bakersfield, East Bay as Safeties and the other Cal States mentioned by @NCalRent as Matches.

Also Cal Poly SLO is the only CSU that uses 9-11th grades in their GPA calculation.
