I really want to get into chico state or actually any CSU but chico state is my TOP. I’m a resident in California and I’m wondering if I’m admissionable for this school my gap is a 2.86 and my sat is 1000 (including everything like math, writing and reading section) and I’m determined to end this semester of my senior of with straight A’s cuz I have easy teachers lol and classes. So do you think that could get me in? By them looking at my senior first semester grades also?
What is your CSU GPA? http://www.csumentor.com/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp
Then calculate your Eligibility index (EI): (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + Critical Reading)
If your EI is around 3700, you have a good chance for an acceptance.
CSU’s only use 10-11th grades for the GPA and 9-12th grades for a-g course requirements. 12th grades will not be used for admission consideration but you need to maintain your GPA and have no D’s or F’s or you could get rescinded.
What about CSU stanislaus or east bay?
I have a 2946 but it might be a 3000 because I retook the SAT
With an EI of 2946, your chances at Chico state are low. East Bay and Stanislaus should be fine since these are non-impacted campuses.
thank you so much. And what about other CSU’s? or U of arizona, ASU, and Northern Arizona Uni?
What is your GPA and test scores?
My gpa is 2.86 and SAT is 980
I would say ASU and NAU are possible. U of A is a no.
The other CSU’s that would accept you would be the non-impacted campuses: Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills and Channel Islands. Based on your GPA and SAT score, are you sure you can handle the rigor of a 4 year university??
Since your SAT scores look low, you will be required to take the ELM and EPT placement tests prior to starting a CSU. If you do not score high enough, you will be required to take several remedial Math and English courses. Have you considered a community college for 2 years, work on getting your grades up along with transitioning into a more demanding course curriculum to better prepare yourself to be a successful college student?
When do students start receiving rejection letters and acceptance letters? my applications are all pending… And I’m kind of nervous because a lot of my other classmates applied to Fresno state and already got accepted to elsewhere.
With the CSU’s, you can hear as early as a month after you submitted your application (usually High Stat applicants) up until late March 2016. Impacted campuses and majors will take longer than non-impacted majors/campus. Hang in there and be patient.
Thank you! So I got my sat score and everything today so my official CSU engibility index is 3048 instead of 2946
Great that you were able to get your scores up but Chico is still a Reach. Worth an application, since you should have a reach school on your list.
Good luck
So do you think I have a good shot at CSU stan and east bay?
Yes, I think you should be OK for CSU Stanislaus and East Bay.
What about my chances in northern Arizona university or university of Nevada, Reno? Considering I have a higher sat score now
I think NAU and Univ Nev Reno are within reach. Cost wise they will be slightly more expensive than the CSU’s (if you plan to live on campus). They are part of the WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) so you will have reduced tuition as an OOS student.
But the acceptance rate for NAU is like 80%
Sorry, I meant to say that your chances are good.
