Can I get into Claremont McKenna College

Hi
Am am a junior at an all girls school I have a 4.65 GPA weighted and a 3.97 unweighted. I am the community service coordinator for the Earth Club, a news editor and possible future editor-in-chief for my school newspaper, one of a few selected students who are doing curatorial work for our school (there was a famous artist who left many pieces to us), a member of my school’s campus ministry leadership team, and probably the future captain of my school’s speech an debate team. I have been on speech and debate for four years and have one over a dozen awards for it in regional and national competitions in multiple events as well as qualifying to state in my main even Lincoln-Douglas. Also, I held an internship for a few months last year for the school year at a political campaign and I am planning to volunteer for a campaign this summer. Right now I have a 31 composite ACT but that was a few months ago without studying so I am studying now and hoping for a slightly higher score. I am ver good at talking to adults and am planning to have an interview and I am fairly knowledgable about current events.

What are my chances of getting into CMC?

Thanks to anybody who responds!

You are on the right track!
Definitely solidify those EC leadership positions. Your scores aren’t stellar (but still very good!!), so a lot of those ECs are going to be important. My ACT is a 32 right now, so I’ve tried to make up for it by founding my own clubs and getting involved outside the community a lot more.
While your ECs are interesting, they’re somewhat standard. I would branch out and try to stand out amongst the crowd. You’re going to have to be creative to do this–something like publishing your own book or maybe doing your own research. But those are just ideas. It sounds like you’re very involved in campaigning and politics! Maybe you could do an internship with a notable political figure or gain a leadership position on your school board/something like that.
I used Cappex’s online “chances” calculator for my own stats, and I got mid-low chances of acceptance. Since my scores are similar to yours, and since I have a few more leadership positions/research opportunities, I would say your chances are somewhat low (a reach). But, if you can really make those ECs stellar, your chances will for sure go up!
Lastly, I’m saying all this without even thinking about essays. So even though I’ve chanced this one as a “reach,” with fantastic, creative essays you could easily move up to a match for CMC.

Then again, the entire college process is super weird and unpredictable, so take this evaluation with a grain of salt.
Good luck!!

For an unhooked applicant (which you appear to be), that 31 ACT is low. The school is a reach for everyone.

Why are you interested in CMC?
