Can I get into CoE undeclared?

I'm a high school senior and I'm not sure what I want to do when I grow up. I'm good at math and engineering seems interesting so I figured I'd do that. I'm not sure what type of engineering I want to do (though aeronautical engineering seems interesting) so I'd rather go undeclared because I really have no idea (I'm not even very sure I want to do engineering). But from what I've heard CoE undeclared is the hardest to get into. If I can get into CoE undeclared I'd rather do that but I don't know what my chances are. So I'm wondering if I should apply undeclared or just pick a major. Is it easy to change your major later on? Can you switch from CoE to L&S?

So here are my stats

SAT I
Math:800
Writing:770
CR:740
Total:2310

SAT II
Math:800
World History:770
US History:710

unweighted UC GPA:3.75
weighted UC GPA:4.15

AP Tests:
European History (3), English Language and Composition (3), US History (4), Calculus BC (5), Calculus AB subscore (5), World History (5).

This year taking:
AP Gov and Pol, AP Econ, AP Literature and Composition, AP Music Theory, AP Physics

ecs:
water polo 4 years, varsity sophomore, junior, and senior
swim 4 years, varsity junior and senior.
Member of National Honors Society but not really involved in it
Key club, but also not very involved in it.
Played Piano for a year but don't play anymore
Worked as a lifeguard at Wild Rivers Summer of '07.
Trained as an ocean Lifeguard for Newport Beach (it was a paying job) but didn't make the cut.

Recieved Award of Excellence in Math last year (an award my school gives to around 5 kids for each department at the end of each year)
Top 10% of class
ELC

So can I make it into CoE undeclared?

Let’s say, the probability of your getting into Berkeley L&S with those stats is .95 or something. Maybe it’s .75 or something for engineering undeclared. I’m making up those numbers. But you can make up your own numbers. The question is, is it worth the risk. That would be up to you.

CoE undeclared is not hardest to get into, but regardless, you have a fair shot. The only thing that seems a bit lacking is your ecs. You don’t really seem to do much that demonstrates your interest in math, science, and technology, but that’s not really a big deal. I’d say you’d get in based on what type of stats the engineering undeclared students I know this year had.

think over whether you are sure you want to be a doctor

I got in to Engineering Undeclared with similar stats to you (my SAT I was lower, 2250, but I got 2 800’s on subject tests (math and physics), and had better AP scores.) However, your EC’s blow mine out of the water, so I’d give you a very good chance at getting in. Hope to see you next year!
