I am planning on attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

3.8 and 3.6 freshman year
3.43 and 3.43 sophomore year
3.94 and 3.2ish junior year
I have all A’s and B’s, except for one D in Trigonometry second semester of junior year, which I took at a community college. I scored a 1920 on the SAT, but may retake. UHM has a 80%+ acceptance rate and a average SAT score of 1600. Do I have a good chance with the D on my transcript?? I can retake Trig, but its preferable not to. I know I’d be able to get a good grade in it a second time, since I understood the concepts, it was just a series of unfortunate events that prompted me to get the grade I did.
You can’t undo the D and you can’t hide it. You’re exceptional for them in every other regard. Most of us aren’t familiar with UHM. Therefore, I think it’d be reasonable to be upfront about what happened and talk to the college directly, asking what you should do. Take responsibility for it and be proactive about it. That’s really all you can do. I would recommend retaking it though, as soon as possible.
