I mainly want to know if it is worth applying.
Thanks for any and all feedback!
I think if you ED than you have a good chance. ivies are unpredictable so please remember that, but I personally would be surprised if you didn’t get in ED. RD is a different story
From numbers alone you are probably around the median for admitted students. Your numbers are quite similar to mine back when I applied to Cornell RD. With EC’s, they look fine. At the very least you have quite a few achievements to demonstrate good interest in multiple subjects. But as with every Ivy admissions are going to be unpredictable.
Other important information would be your intended major at Cornell and the college you are applying to. This establishes criteria with which admissions will judge your application.
BTW, that is an interesting SAT score. I thought they changed the test from 2400 to 1600 scale a couple years ago?
I’m applying as a physics major (don’t know if this will help/hurt my chances)
Also, the college board did change the SAT, I just converted mine to the 2400 scale so I could compare it to the stats given by the school.
Anyway thanks for the feedback!
Yes, I am a Junior. I am thinking about applying to RIT, BU, and some more safety schools in the North East. Curiously enough people have been telling me to apply to Harvard, MIT, Stanford cause they think I could get in. I think these options are much less likely, so for right now Cornell is my first choice.
i think it’s worth applying as you’re definitely a competitive applicant. as someone stated before, ED would probably be your best bet, if it’s your first choice. good luck!
BTW, what physics are you looking into? As far as I know there is physics at Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences, and then there is applied/engineering physics at the College of Engineering.
When you apply to Cornell, you have to apply to 1 specific college within Cornell. This matters because each college has different criteria and requirements for admissions. You should think about this and pick the one that best suits you.
